Arcade in the movie "Super 8" - Wierton, WV

I didn't find this already talked about on KLOV, but I was watching the awesome movie, "Super 8", today and noticed in one of the downtown scenes there is an arcade in the background with a pinball sign. If you blink you'll miss it as it's a very quick scene. The movie credits listed that it was filmed in Wierton, WV. Anyone know about this arcade?

i'll have to rewatch this to see. i just watched it the other day and don't remember an arcade being in there. the only video-game related thing i saw was the fat kid charles' mattel football handheld.

It seems it was fake maybe? Here is a site that is showing "sets" of the movie, and I might have found the arcade you are talking about.

When did this movie supposedly take place. I thought it was like '77. And if it was, would a full blown arcade have even been a reality at the time. Not trying to be difficult. Just curious as the authenticity. I realize solid state was around, prior to '79 and all, but was there sufficient enough interest in solid state games to justify an arcade in a small town before Space Invaders dropped. And maybe its just me remembering wrong and the movie took place in '79 in which case an arcade would have been likely.

Kind of like the monster plot hole in Transformers I found this weekend. You know, aside from the whole giant robot aliens thing. ;)

Watched that friday. I also watched Green Lantern, which has a Gem Fighter and NFL Blitz 99 in one scene.

Saw TF 3 saturday. Eh. Could have been better. Hate what they've turned Megatron into the last 2 movies.

I think super 8 takes place in 1979. I remember seeing something about it in the movie somewhere. Pretty cool movie,if you can get past the over the top unbelievably unrealistic scene with the train near the beginning.

^^^^^ Yes, that's the arcade in the movie! Roadtrip anyone?

Apparently Aladdin's Castle was already around back then, and I know I visited a mall arcade in Mobile, AL (a relatively small city) around that same time period.

By coincidence I just finished watching both "Transformers DOTM" and "Super 8".

The "Transformer" movies are definitely #1 in the special effects department.

As for "Super 8", the year was 1979. ELO's "Don't bring me down" played at the very beginning of the movie and that was off an album that was released in '79.

Nevertheless, I didn't notice the arcade, and I definitely didn't noticed a flying Mazer Blazer cabinet, which was my favorite game in college. (Just some washing machines and dumpsters). :D

Anyone have the times into the DVD these things took place?
