Arcade hoarders?

I agree with whoever said something about it being all in your perspective. I haven't touched any of my projects in over 4 years now. Friends and family see this and many have called me a hoarder. But a lot of it has to do with my son, who is 4, combined with my job which has long hours at times. Add to that the fact that I over-collected and have no space to work on anything.

But, I totally plan on getting everything working. I am working on getting a workshop built so that I can move all my projects out of the basement, garage, and shed. If I can get everything working before I die, I consider it a success. Maybe you won't be the person to end up with my games or parts, but someone will other than the dumpster. Hopefully my son. :D

I know several guys who have completed their collections. All the games they want and tons of parts - but haven't restored anything. It's their retirement hobby in the next ten years or so.

Nothing like enjoying your golden years by tossing around 300lb, 20 cubic foot anchors hobbled by miniature components that may or may not be available. Somebody has to keep the next generation of pickers in business.

More games are coming this next week, about 12 games coming to the Hangar!!!!!
Arkanoid
Blasteroids
Zoo Keeper
Xybots
Xenophobe
Lost Tomb
Black widow
Omega Race
Pengo
Joust cocktail
Rally X
Super Zaxxon
Atari Video pinball
Vindicators
Hogan's Alley
Convert-a-cab (Monster Bash)

I have and do hoard to a certain extent.

When I left Chicago I sold almost all of my project games, wish I had those vector games back now.

LOL...yes...this. I hope I can do it sooner, but I have joked when people ask me "when are you going to finish blah" that I will get to it when I retire.

While working, we have the money to buy, but not the time to restore. When retired, we'll have the time to restore, but less money to buy. So that leaves no option but to buy and store NOW (aka...hoarding). :)

Don't do the math on how much a few years to decades of storage costs are. Cause it might be cheaper to buy ones not needing restoring. ;)

Thus far, I've avoided the need for a commercial storage unit (that's another current thread). Completed games in the basement, projects in the garage. But the cars HAVE had to stay out in the driveway for the last few years. :D

Haters will hate. I have no issue with the hoarders. The hobby is called arcade collecting for a reason, if everyone wasn't trying to stockpile as much as possible it would be called arcade playing.
A lot of the guys I know (including myself at times) enjoy the hunt and acquiring more than the actual games. I'm hardly a hoarder but I do have a rack of monitors in the garage.
Buy low, sell hi, its the way of the world.

I wish one of you "hoarders" would pm me about some midway CCR game cards/pcbs for wizard of wor...

Having trouble finding the memory card and pattern card same as gorf on pattern card....
