Arcade Games with Sound or Music in Attract Mode

"Starfighter" did and was made before 1985. It also shook alot. Oh wait you wanted games that were actually produced. :D

Maybe the ORIGINAL POSTER of this thread could create a post with all the known games so far, so others won't keep saying the same ones over and over.

And to add games that can make noises in attract mode (some may have been mentioned already):

Tron
Gauntlet
Lethal Enforcers
1941
After Burner
Amidar
Arabian
Black Tiger
Bomb Jack
Choplifter
Circus Charlie
Commando
Contra
Dragon's Lair
Galaga
Ghosts n' Goblins
Ghouls n' Ghosts
Gondomania

Pretty sure Tempest does NOT have any sounds in attract mode. If it does, I'd certainly like to know how!

How do you make Tron have sound in attract mode???

Um, turn the volume up? It makes sound in attract mode normally, with no way to stop it (as far as I know from checking dip switches online). Every once in a while it makes the noise from MCP cone or from the spider transport. I had to turn the volume all the way down because it drove the client crazy (was in an office)...

Not mine. (filler)

Gauntlet II plays music like Gauntlet does, and Spy Hunter plays the Peter Gunn theme. My Op Wolf has sounds too, but it's '87.

Sorry, I meant attract sounds, not mode. I haven't turned MB on since taking it apart months ago, but I thought it had attract sounds. Come to think of it, I don't think it does. Though Popeye does and yes, the intro music at the title screen is very annoying. When I had Popeye, I turned it off.

I originally had my Popeye attract sound on per Twin Galaxies settings.

After a week or two of hearing that from the basement if the games were on, I turned it off.

How do you make Tron have sound in attract mode???

you remove r135 on the ssio board. it's a resistor that's not spaced right next to everything so there's room if you're nervous about splashing solder on another component. it's near the lm3900 on the board.

as far as satan's hollow, from what i understand technically you would have sound in attract mode if you removed r135 but i've also heard the sound in attract mode is not correct, i.e. kind of garbled, the sounds aren't right for what they should be.

Yeah, I remember reading somewhere that the MCR games just mute the sound internally during attract mode, and neither my Kickman nor the Tron I owned have any options as far as enabling sound during attract, so as far as I'm concerned, Tron has NO sound in attract mode unless you're counting broken boardsets or pcb hacks.....

This is a strange thread to me. One of my first orders of business when I get a game is to find an original manual / schematics. In the meantime of getting it I usually I have to look it up on-line. The main reason for this is so I can get my dip settings right. I want the number of men, difficulty settings and attract mode switches correct from the get-go. It seems crazy, but for me that's part of the fun of getting a new game.

Many early 80s games in all the arcades I saw them had no sound (playing): Pac series, DK series, Robotron/Defender/Stargate, Tron I only remember the 'orrrrrrrrr' of going 'up' in the tower on the grid bugs screen.

Killer Instinct has attract sound but goes silent after a couple minutes.
*Qix
*pacland
*Professor pac
*Super Pac (very annoying!)
*Gorf
*Qbert
*Gyruss
I cant remember for sure if pacmania has it or not.
