I recently bought the Switch 2 after owning a Switch and not having nearly enough time to play as id like. I prefer old games to new ones but usually play the new Zelda and Mario stuff at the very least and the new Donkey Kong was enough to get me to buy in.

Ive enjoyed some of the collections of classic Arcade game stuff that have come out in the past few years. Just wondering if anyone here does the same and has any recommendations. I mostly buy physical copies but not opposed to downloading some stuff. I saw Tinkle Pit can be downloaded now and that seems like a easy way to play that one.

Whats out there

Atari 50
Namco Muesem Arcade Pac
SNK 40th Anniversary
TMNT Cowabunga Collection
Capcom Fighting Collection
Samurai Showdown Collection
Street Fighter 2 30th collection
Konami Arcade Classics
Taito Milestones 1-3

Coming Soon
Mortal Kombat Komplete Kollection

Personally I just have Mame setup with a USB fight stick for when I wanna try out a game or do any emulation. Still can't believe how much they wanna charge for a set of thirty year old roms with some of these collections.

i get it. And thats a good way to go about it. But this keeps me portable when on the go. And i agree sometimes the price is insane.

For portable play of classics I just have one of those cheap (or, they were cheap before the tariffs) Chinese-made emulator handhelds (the Miyoo A30) that will play everything up to around PS1. For arcade cores and GB, GBC, NES/SNES, Genesis, Atari console, etc. it plays things really well. Even a selection of PS1 games like Tony Hawk Pro Skater play well on it. I've been playing some of the Pokémon games on it recently.

i actually just came into one of those as well. But havent used it as much as i should.
Nor have I, I'm usually working on my arcade projects with my spare time. Who has time to actually play video games?! 🤣

I use a backbone controller with my iPhone and run RetroArch, it makes for a pretty practical and easy to carry/pack mobile gaming package.
