Anyone ever use the pre-printed wall murals? The ones you put up like wallpaper? We bought one over the weekend and will be applying it this Saturday to the east wing of the arcade's newly acquired addition. I am trying to find a few smaller space/cosmic-themed ones that are less than a hondo a piece. We paid $85 for this one and it is 13 feet W x 9 feet tall. The company we bought it from only had this design in the space/cosmic category, or I woulda bought the smaller ones from them. I have been online looking, but most places want $300+ for 4'x6' murals. Anyone know of a cheaper source?

I recently named my arcade "Stardust" in honor of the old 70's Vegas casino, which just happens to appropriately tie in with my space-themed blacklight carpet. :D I looked at doing a wall mural on one wall, but after seeing how much they were, I quickly decided against it and I'm going with posters on some of the walls, and framed flyers all around the top instead.

$300 seemed cheap, I remember them more like $400-500 for a "regular"-sized wall, like 12' wide/9' high when I was looking. I'd love to know your source for such an inexpensive wall mural, I might change my mind...

Here you go. This is the one I am going with on one wall:

I want a few more in the same style for the other walls. It obviously can't be the same view or it will not look very convincing. I would just love a star field with a comet or distant planet or something. I want it to look serene and real, not hokey. Some of the ones I've seen try to cram every cosmic object they can think of into one panel.

Wow that is a really cool website, we used to have a wall mural in our den when I was a kid and I thought that was the coolest thing. You'll have to post a review of the quality because I might be interested in picking one up.

Carefully remove paste from the front of the mural. Too much rubbing or cleaning will remove the ink from the paper.

This part of the instructions bothers me. I can get wallpaper and print on it anything you like (I do this for some of our decorator clients) but it ain't cheap and the stuff won't wear off as it is commercial grade. I'm curious to see how this comes out.

How much for a 4' high x 10 foot long panel? I can find and send you a file if it's reasonable.

Like say this one:

Cool - reminds me of the mural me and my dad put up in my room when I was a kid:

I had that in my room up until the time I left for college. In fact, they didn't take it down until they sold their house. If I ever get a dedicated game space, I'll probably try to track that down and put it up again, for the nostalgia factor.

Yeah that's very similar to the one I just bought. The earth is a little bigger, the rim of the moon is more centered and there are more stars in the background. I agree, these are pretty cool. Saves me days of trying to paint one.

They had one of those moon murals in my pediatric dentist when I was a kid. It was called the moon room and was where they did your x rays at. If you didn't have any cavities you got to have your picture taken on the moon and put on the wall outside. :)

THis company has somm pretty cool ones: http://www.borderstore.com

One of the companies here in downtown Houston did a huge (50+ foot) moonscape mural in the tunnel by a food court.

I'm a freelance cartoonist so having basically completely bare 12' garage walls to go apeshit on was a dream come true. I wanted to do all original paintings but sticking with the 8-bit theme would take up more space and less time. It's far from being done. I still have 2 more walls and then the ceiling.

that my friend is the tops...

I would think any mural would be mostly covered by our need for wall space!

what about a local high school / college art student? throw them couple hundred to paint it on?

I've seen some amazing things by high school kids ...

* I was thinking of having a design contest to design a new police patch for us!

Thought I better put a cap on this thread. Here is the wall mural up:

We cut it virtually in half and used each half on a separate wall. It worked out well. We did have a bit of an issue with the paste being too thick at first, but it worked out in the end. The mural quality was pretty good. Picked it up at Steve's Wallpaper and Blinds online.
