When I first started collecting, I was a broke ass. (now I am just an ass). I grabbed any and everything from the bottom. I had a haul once from an auction of 8 games on my truck; 8 turds but I had a tonne of parts. Anyway, my point is I have sold a few games that I seriously regret because I needed cash.

1. Burgertime. This did go to a friend in the hobby, so I am like 90% regretting this sale. I picked it up in a bulk deal. Burgertime, DK3 and some lame redemption game. I sold the DK3 after fixing the monitor, trashed the redemption game (I think - dont remember) and kept the BT

2. Candy Cab. - Also in a bulk deal. Had Uo Poko in it for years. I needed cash fast and sold it super cheap.

3. Pacman with "MadPac" in it. Cant regret this one too much because I used the 900 (yes, 900!!) I got for it and bought a digital SLR at Costco.

4. Mappy. Lame game but fun. Always a party fav and a really cool cabinet.

I am older, have a way better job, not living paycheck to paycheck - everything is way overpriced (IMHO). I'd rather drop 3k on something for the house or just leave it in the bank.

I regret selling Donkey Kong. I will spend at least double what I sold it for a few years ago to get one now. I also kinda regret selling Tempest, and may buy another one as well. I can't think of any others I would buy back (unless I had a lot more space).

I am really glad I picked up an unrestored Burgertime. While it doesn't get a lot of attention in the gameroom as far as playing it, I did have a lot of fun restoring it. The sides had all the paint flaking off and I bought the weeded stencils from This Old Game. A lot of work but it was really fun restoring it as much as possible. Almost thought about tracing the cab on a new sheet of plywood just to do it again. :D

pissing away waaaaaay too much money when i first started in the hobby WHILST SIMULTANEOUSLY turning down (what would be considered today) excellent deals (yep, i'm that special kind of retarded)

i could name individual games but - the root cause - i was way too impulsive to both extremes and would affordably have some of my top 10 most wanted games in my collection had i not been so stupid

Sold a sea wolf II that was complete but not working.

Would love to find one again but haven't seen one since.

Picked up a TMNT TiT as part of my first bulk deal, sold it for $450. Had original TNMT art on one side and TMNT TiT on the other.

Also regret dumping off my Nibbler conversion.

You know what they say, arcade games are a hell of a drug..

I sold a real nice original ghosts and goblins I regret... game is so goddamn hard to got pissed at it.

With the games that pass through my hands, I usually get to play them til I'm bored of them before I sell them. Most everything I kept for myself for any length of time ended up sold, and for the most part I don't miss them. The exception is Karate Champ. That game might not be much fun single player, but head-to-head competition was a blast. Even 4-player Gauntlet Dark Legacy didn't have the same thrill to it. I don't often have people over to play, but when I do, I'm not the only one who laments it's absence.

Nearly everything I've sold, because they were 99% need to sell rather than want to sell. :D

Sold my restored Punch Out ... bad move.

Sold my restored Super Punch Out ... bad move.

Sold my Guns n Roses pin ... bad move.

Sold not one, but TWO Paperboys ... bad move.

Sold a Whirwind Pin ... bad move.

Sold a Star Wars cockpit w/25" Amp ... bad move.

Shall I continue?

EDIT: Here is a blog post I did on this very topic just about 1 year ago ... http://aha-forums.com/wp/2015/05/22/wtf-was-i-thinking/

I regret watching craigslist for the past 13 years and not taking the plunge to purchase that first cab for $200-300. Only purchased in the post King of Kong era of pricing pain. Whatevah...here I am, better late than never.

Selling my 720 that I got for $300, in the early 2000's and then spending over 5x more to buy it back not too long ago... the original was an 8 maybe even 9 of 10, peice of Magic and wonder...(my new one is not too shabby either! Just not an 8or9)

Other than that, I regret not being fully in the hobby, when prices were reasonable. 720 was my only game back in the day; couldn't imagine you were allowed to own more than ONE or maybe TWO arcade games...

I lost count of how many times I've said it on KLOV.
Zeke's Peak. I needed the money from a bulk buy.
In the same deal I sold a DK3 within a week or so to recoup some $.

Later in the same year I let an R-Type go for relatively cheap as well.

They hadn't invented crystal balls back then.

PS, VC won't post anything on this thread because word on the street is that he's a hoarder and doesn't get rid of anything ;)
