I'm going to brag a bit here. For the third consecutive year my 8th grade flag football team won the league championship. This is not some weak-sauce league but a full 8 school league with our school being the smallest student-wise. We breezed through league play and then entered the league tournament as the #1 seed. We won the championship game 31-7 and ended up outscoring league opponents 226-19 through 8 total games. What an incredible team and great group of guys. This team had no holes -- speed, size, skills, and execution. Our only blemish overall was losing in a tournament championship game of my own invitational to a school that has 700 students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade -- we have 52 total in those grades in our school. We ended 10-1.
Anyway, every year we have an arcade party at my house, pizza, and then off to a Fresno State football game. This year was a lot of fun, except for firing up my SW CP for the first time in two weeks and the monitor not coming on.
The big hits were Centipede, and Galaga and the Johnny Mnemonic pin. I love the looks on their faces when they walk into my room for the first time. A highlight for sure and days like this make the arcade worth it. Most of these kids have a very hard home life and issues but it's a joy to be a part of their lives and hopefully give them some good memories. Enjoy the (blurry iPhone) pics.
