Who is going??

http://arcaderx.com/

I'm going again this year. This time around I'm taking several games so I will be around the show all weekend.

I'll be there but spending a few hours at the warehouse sale on Saturday. I'm planning on bringing a few games too; I'll probably bring Gauntlet II, Commando and Arkanoid.

Bringing 4 this year. 2 for sale. I'll probably swing over to Jeff's warehouse to meet fellow Klovers also.

I have 5 lined up to make the trip including a few for sale. Hopefully the weather behaves.

I'm gonna be there. Thinking about bringing my Smash TV 25" if I can figure out an easy way to set her up for freeplay...

Set it for 1 coin 1 play and temporarily jumper P1 start to coin 1 and P2 start to coin 2. You could use alligator clips to be quickly reversable. Would love to see this game there.

Chris,
Take Roberts advice and do it his way or I can make you up a button. I have quite a few of the buttons common in kit games. The self contained jobbies with 2 terminals out the bottom. I'm just soldering on a length of wire, feeding it through a coin slot, zip tying it off for a strain relief, then jumping the coin switch. I am wrapping the body with tape and catching the wire in a couple of turns so its not hanging from the solder joint. Quick easy reversible free play.
That aside...they folks at the EXPO are giving out blocks of wood to go in place of a coin mech. Its supposed to have a switch where the reject lever can hit it. Push coin return and it credits.

Thanks for the tips guys, I'll try the alligator clip method and see if I can get it right. If all else fails we can try one of Brent's tricks at the show.

Smash TV hasn't been played in a while, it'll be good to break it back in. It has a nice shiny new monitor thanks to the awesome repair skills of the amazing Mr. Edward Lutz!

I'm really looking forward to seeing (and playing) the games there. Anyone else going?

They'll have free play "wooden coin mechs" for games that don't automatically support freeplay. From their website:

"This year, we will have available "wooden coin mechs" for your game. These mechanisms will fit most games without any modification (as long as it has a coin slot). Simply slide this mech in, connect the aligator clips to the credit switch, and you are done! The coin return switch is now the credit switch. Best of all, keep it! This mech is a gift to you for bringing your game for all to enjoy. If you have a game that can not be turned on free play, and this is something that sounds good to you, let us know.
Electrical outlets and power strips will be layed out for your machine to plug into. You are the owner of your machine, and thus you are responsible for making sure the game is safe to play. Obviously we reserve the right to unplug any machine that is not safe. Want to sell or trade it? This is the best place to do so! Last year we had over 2000 attendees, and we had several people wanting to buy machines. Maybe you are tired of the arcade you had for several years and want to swap it out..bring it here!"

This is going to be my first time at the show, but I gotta say, the idea of a collector's 'bring-n-play' is awesome. It has been a long time since I've seen a giant arcade, and the Expo is a great chance to play a bunch of stuff I've never even seen, and bring one of my toys to show off. Totally psyched!

Bringing 4 machines. You can unload them Thursday night -- free pizza I was told.

Had the same news my way as well. Unless something changes I am rolling in on Friday morning. Looking at the site all I could find about setup was a time block in the schedule that noted Friday. I had already worked out my own schedule around that time slot before finding out Thursday was available as well.

I will be there! Drive down to the house and come get you a Nintendo Super System project :)

You still need to come by the place and check out your Neo Geo . Having a console party in a couple of weeks. 10-12 tv's hooked up to everything from atari 2600's to Playstations. Also Commodore 64's and Apple's. Should be a blast. Prob will be catered and beer provided. Let me know bro, should have about 12-15 people there.

Dude that sounds pretty freakin' sweet. I might have to come down!

My Solar Fox and Crystal Castles will be tagging along with me.

What time are the letting people in on Thursday night?

Edward
