Arcade Expo 2017 Banning, California

A much improved layout on the video game side, plus a lot of new titles. A good job by all those involved to get the majority of games up and running properly. But for the love of pete, will someone fix that damn Super Don Quixote joystick already? It's been over 2 years (https://forums.arcade-museum.com/showpost.php?p=2972570&postcount=11).

Alpha, I think I saw you soldering away in the small tech booth. Safe move with the blue shirt.

Dam you.. You didn't say Hi!...
I would have put you to work! Laughs..

I grabbed kalan to pick his brains to adjust the major havoc. Thanks!.

Already had someone break off one of the guns.

Most of the machines are running is all i can tell you folks But with that many machines. there are bound to be some problem ones..

Super Don would have been easy to fix.

Maybe next time I plan on spending a week out there I'll start a "What needs to be looked at" thread here and on AHA.

You looked busy, I didn't want to bother you (or get drafted) :)

He looked exhausted by the end of the night.
I should resolve to make time to help out next year. I just need to work on being able to repair games outside of my garage. There's far less anxiety when it's your own stuff and you have no fixed timeframe for completion.

I completely understand. With the nature of it being volunteer work and the sheer number of games, 100% running and working properly is a lofty goal. Hopefully the rest of the weekend goes smoothly for all you techs and the Expo as a whole, bummed I can't be there another day this weekend.

I just got back from Banning. I was there all day yesterday with my family. Had a great time. I agree with what i86time said above. I thought the video game section was bigger and better this year. Lots of great titles. I finally got to play a Spectar. Pretty fun. Played a bunch of Mad Planets and enjoyed the cockpit Sinistar which has amazing sound. My son discovered a new game that he and my wife really enjoyed: Taito Lock N Chase. Pretty sure I've never even heard of the game before but he loves it (he's 9).

On the pinball side, the new Stern Batman based on the old TV show was pretty great. They had 3 of them out in the tent and there was no line last night so we all traded off on a couple machines for about 20 minutes. I also got to play Black Knight a few times and I see why so many people like that game. It really is good.

Great show this year (this is my 3rd time going). Wish I could have stayed longer but had to work a bit today. Thanks to everyone who helped make it happen.

They definitely need a Champion Edition, and Hyper Fighting Street Fighter 2. They have a SF2 original, and some hacked version. It wasn't Rainbow, not sure what it was. I don't think it was a Red Wave either, some weird Chinese hack maybe?

Freaken 4:12 am and I am home from the show..
Got approached to fix games from other people. Laughs I am trying to pawn it off to other techs..
Next time I going to bribe the pinball guys with doughnuts to get them to help on the video side. Laughs..
Ran across another klov person..
I was trying to draft him to help..
He knows how to solder.. The rest we can teach him.. Laughs..

The other tech now has a red shirt.. I am still not keen on the idea of red.. Laughs
Amazing amount of work has gone into this place.. Smiles

The place gets warm.. I watered the crew who were coining up the games.

Lost a few switches from people pulling on them.. Laughs..

Agreed with the 3 previous posts. Great show, impressive lineup including probably 30% more games than previous years. Billy Mitchell is a champ (signed my shirt).

If that bootleg champion edition is a legit capcom board with bootleg roms, I would be happy to donate roms with original champion edition code on them.

Gearing up for round 2, with a bit of an electronics hangover. [emoji14]

Its not, Its some single board bootleg. When we first powered it up months ago I went to change the ROMs and realized that I couldnt.

Those hacks ruined SFII as far as I'm concerned.

I worked for a street operator when those stupid hacks came out. Before we installed them all of his games were making over $300 a week (probably 200 SFII champs). When we converted them a few went back up to what they were making when the game was new $800-$1000 but the rest tanked!

That was it. Even if we changed them back the games were lucky to make $50 a week.

Yes, $60k per week! And that wasnt the only game kicking ass. He had 30 or so NBA Jams that we had to internally chain the doors and control panels shut to keep people out. A few of those were making close too $2k per week. They had to be collected multiple times per week or the cash boxes would back up and the game would no longer take money.

Great Show

Hats off to the organizers of the Expo! I was there all day on Friday and got home at 1:30 a.m. I had a great time. Staff was friendly and as others have said, the game line-up was better than last year. They had an impressive collection of the latest Stern pins and I actually got to play them since Friday seems less busy than Saturday. They worked very hard to keep the games all running....very challenging.

I also like the video collection. Along with the classics, and some not so classic, they had fighting games and even had some nice shooting and driving games. Great to play some old EM shooting gallery games as well.

Overall, a great show. Glad I went. See you guys at CAX.
