First and Foremost a HUGE THANK YOU to Williams Programmer Kristina Donofrio for giving me the opportunity to own MY HOLY GRAIL GAME.
Secondly, this game is NOT FOR SALE and probably NEVER will be, so don't ask. Just bask in the knowledge that such acquisitions are still obtainable in this hobby.
A little background, I am an active member of the Williams Defender Players Unite Facebook page and have been so for quite a long time. This group was started by Defender enthusiasts and grew to include fans off all of the games produced by Williams Electronics, including my all time favorite Robotron. As some of you may know I dabbled in the marathoning of Robotron for a while until I realized that I would never surpass the exploits of the G.O.A.T. Robotron player and my friend David Gomez (the man is a machine and a LEGEND). Anyway, several of the classic Williams programmers including Larry DeMar, Eugene Jarvis (through his proxy Sasha) and Kristina Donofrio would stop by now and again to give some history, tech info or other background on a given game. I told Kristina how much I LOVE Mystic Marathon and used to play it as a kid in the arcade at the Colonial Mall in Orlando, Florida back in the 80's. I had searched for a conversion kit for some time and knew about the 3 mythical "dedicated, stenciled prototype" cabs that existed, one of which was owned by Kristina who was the lead programmer for the game. I mentioned to her to let me know if she ever decided to sell her game and then let it go, figuring I would be lucky just to find a complete conversion kit some day.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I received a message from Kristina asking me if I was still interested in the game. It seems her and her husband are simplifying things and she decided it was time to sell off some games, including her dedicated Mystic Marathon Prototype. By the Grace of Goddess, Kristina remembered my interest and thus made me an offer that I could simply NOT refuse.
So behold, I give you Mystic Marathon in all its stenciled glory. Note that the game is pristine inside and out. Kristina even signed the inside of the cab in two places! She also included the original drawings for the game.
