Here's the newest picture. It was a complete bummer we didn't win and lost to the darn smurfs.

Very cool! Do the kids get into it and appreciate the classics?

I got a lot of positive comments from kids in the hallways today. Most kids think we will win the contest. I am up against Angry birds and the smurfs. I will post the fall out next Tuesday.

Here are some of my observations about the middle school crowd.

They love super mario brothers. Most have purchased it, if they have a Wee. Some have old super nintendos and admit to still playing it.

Most like and have played galaga, digdug, and pole position. probably thanks to the handheld TV plug in jobbies.

They seem to know what space invaders is because of a futurama episode.

They know about donkey kong, but few have actually played.

They have all played Mrs. Pac, but I don't think any of them have actually play pac MAN.

Kids like the classics, but they say they are too hard. It cracks me up. They really get upset when they have to start completely over.

The best feedback I get is that most really enjoy pinball. I am hoping that because it is such a massive departure from vids that pinball will have a future for sometime to come.

I am also a teacher and have really been trying to figure out a way to bring in an arcade game to the classroom. OF COURSE IT IS EDUCATIONAL!!!!!!

I mean, how cool would it be to have a 60 in 1 or whatever that kids could play the classics as a reward for good behavior.

My kids help me build a 60 in 1 after school last year. It was a blast. I let any kid come in after school to play it for a week when we finished. I hosted a galaga and frogger tourny. It was fun.

In my homeroom talking games is one of the connections that I have even with the most difficult kids. They are always interested in what I have in the basement and what I am currently working on.

My Holiday classroom door. My homeroom students are designing our door.

Its still in progress they plan on putting a joystick below and a mario in there somewhere.

Heres the updated photo. We didn't win. The smurfs theme beat us. I am not stoked.
