Why? The game kicks ass. I've had mine for something like 10 years while countless other "classics" have come and gone! :)

Mostly space issues. No real problem with the gameplay. I have a Race Drivin and thats close enough for me.

I miss all games because of lack of money or lack of space.

I missed out on a mint Frogger cocktail for $200 because my wife and I weren't sure we could afford to spend $200 that month.

Then I missed out on an Elevator Action (working) for $100 for the same reason.

Then my wife started a new job, but hadn't got her first check yet when a Swimmer popped up for $125 or so. I wanted it pretty bad, but needed to wait until she got her check. A buddy of mine was negotiating with the owner and got them down to $75. I was two days from calling them to pick it up, when Hyde posted here that he had just gotten it for $100... :(

i'm gonna catch a lot of heat for this one....... complete environmental discs of tron for 75.00. i passed on it when i was new to the hobby and had NO idea what it was!!!

How can you sleep at night knowing that?!

JK... :) we all made some newbie mistakes at one point.

A Taito Gladiator in great shape for $100. It was 61 miles away. I am still kicking myself! It would have been a great home for my Rastan board too. I wouldn't feel the need to make any changes, but get a JAMMA switcher.

Passed on a Maneater at a flea market years ago... I think it was $50 or $100
Didn't think it was that big of a deal until a couple years ago a non working one went for about $1500 on ebay...

Man that really sucks! I have to say that is one FREAKY cabinet! I would be afraid to have it in my basement! :D

EDIT:

That is an obvious JAW rip, being that it came out in 1975 (the year I was born) the same year JAWS came out. Those guys must have rushed that to the market!

I passed on a $150 "Eyes" by Rockola about a dozen years ago. Also a $125 Astro Fighter cocktail about a decade ago. I kick myself for letting go a Stargate mini and a Jungle King(not Hunt) about 5 or 6 years ago. There's others but those come to mind right away...

i saw a astro fighter upright for 100 needing capped, a good deal?

Phet, if it makes you feel any better, Mongo turned me on to a nice working Rampage last weekend for $75. Hopefully the one you were looking at wasn't the same one in the St. Louis area.

The one design choice about Rampage that I'll never understand is why they put such a small monitor in such a honkin' huge cabinet. Should've been a 19" at least.

I just saw a Stargate mini at the IGHOF last weekend. That's a sweet machine.

I almost bought a warlords cocktail for $500. I bought out an old op's parts stash and my truck was so full I could barely fit in the drivers seat. I would have had to find a trailer rental place in the backwoods.

$250 minty working Tron extremely locally earlier this year. I was saving for a different game. Didn't realize until I looked it up how much it was worth, and now I'm kicking myself because I could have resold it and had enough to buy the other game.

A very nice looking HUO Taito Crazy Climber that was on eBay last winter. Gave the seller a courtesy email to let him know I would be using NAVL for pickup and would that be okay? He says, sure no problem. The next day, with 2 days still to go in the auction, he writes me and retracts that statement. It was a public auction and I could have bought it anyway and he wouldn't have been able to do a damn thing about it (it is a binding sales contract, after all), but I let it go. It did sell, in the closing moments for the opening bid price. The guy could have made more from me if he hadn't flaked. I don't get people who "won't ship" even with NAVL. You don't have to do a damn thing except make sure it's on the ground floor and accessible, then get out of the way. People are weird.

The one that got away

Two I passed on was a free Neo Geo and a $100 Arcade Legends. The Arcade Legends had a bad hard drive and might be difficult to replace cheaply. More important is lack of space and my wife's reaction.

$100?!? Oh man.... I feel sorry for you with the Arcade Legends. If there was garbage on the screen, it was most likely not the hard drive, but a $5 battery that must be changed out every few years to make everything run smoothly. After resetting the bios settings, everything should still be retained, and if not, as long as the owner had the original OS disk and/or flash drives, they could reinstall everything needed. Worse case scenario, a new hard drive (not expensive) and a clean install.

I have passed on a few games like a dedicated gauntlet 2 for $200 and a juno first for the same. I also passed on a working esb and a working star wars
(both needing monitors) for $400 each. Rare when good games come up on cl for sale. I did pass on a $100 battlezone too but it had monitor woes too! Now how about this for sad, a dedicated 3 player revolution x for $50 needing a capkit. I passed and it was destroyed! Pouts:-(
