So, what are the cabs that you almost bought, but just didn't pull the trigger on for some reason?

For me, I let a Burgertime get away because the guy that offered delivery (just to my door, mind you) wanted to charge me $100. He was about 3 miles away, and already had to pack more games including this one in his huge truck anyway; all he had to do was put it near the back make the stop, drop it off and leave. It was a simple delivery...not worth $100 IMO. I offered $50 and he refused. So for that, I lost the cab. Oh well. Looking back, the cab was overpriced anyway, but I really wanted the game. I guess not bad enough to get ripped off though.

I also ALMOST bought a Tetris that was in fair condition but needed work. I didn't lowball by any means, but the guy was set on not coming down on his price. I made my offer, which I thought was quite fair and he said he'd contact me, but he never did. The price difference was a lousy $25.

I turned down a non working paperboy (big mistake),time pilot (to far), exhaust note(to big),die hard arcade(sucks). I'm sure theres a few more just too many to rememeber. Turned down some freebies also that were to far away.

I zoned on a nice Rampage for $175. Too far, didn't have the room, scared of my wife's reaction. It's of course sold now. *sigh* I pulled the same maneuver on a Space Invaders. But I still think $300 firm is too high for that game, so I don't feel so bad there. But a nice, working Rampage for $175? I fucked up. My only consolation is that I own it's superior cousin, Primal Rage.

I passed on the following 3 all for $100 and all working!

Full 4 player john elway qb
moon patrol
pit fighter

I was new to hobby at time and his stairs didnt look like a pleasant way to bring games up. I also had NO help and this guy couldn't help.

Had i landed these i would have the following

full 4 player john elway qb
multi williams
anything but pit fighter

i'm gonna catch a lot of heat for this one....... complete environmental discs of tron for 75.00. i passed on it when i was new to the hobby and had NO idea what it was!!!

$125 Vanguard. This one violated my $100 max budget. But it was very tempting.
$30 All-American Football. It had some pretty bad water damage but was 100% working.

$100 Galaga - Thought I could do better (new to collecting at the time). Oops.
$250 Spy Hunter - sit-down, didn't have the room, really wanted it, too
Free Scramble - had to pass `cause I couldn't find some1 with a truck fast enuff to get it.

I also passed on a Sundance a guy had sitting in an abandoned bar, `cause he said there was a "curse" on it. Asked him what he meant, and he told me something about "everyone associated with it either ends up in jail or in internet flame wars - take it if you dare, muhahahahaha!" Decided it wasn't worth the risk...

In all seriousness that one definitely stings. Not many people will ever have that kind of chance. What was the story on it? Obviously someone must not have known what they had?

Phet, if it makes you feel any better, Mongo turned me on to a nice working Rampage last weekend for $75. Hopefully the one you were looking at wasn't the same one in the St. Louis area.

I have passed on a lot of crap, but a couple notables were:

STUN Runner for 2 or 3 hundred. SO glad I didn't buy that.

Quantum for 1300. Still not sure if I am happy or sad on that one.

I passed on an Alpine Racer projection screen model for $195.

I think it was just barely shorter than the ceiling in my garage, and easily hogged the space of 4 other games.

Nice. No, this one was in Hudson, WI. Oh well. Another space hog I didn't need.

Passed on an I, Robot because the truck was full. I can only plead ignorance because I had never heard of if before, I have no idea if it was working or not. I had bought the contents of the whole storage unit, so it was mine. I just didn't have room in the truck and wasn't going to be able to make a second run out to pick up the leftovers.

I've passed on a lot of pins too, because they were "this close to running". That excuse ranks right up with untested JAMMA boards on Ebay.

You've lost my respect.

You've regained my respect. :D

This working upright Atari Warlords:

It went for around $260 at the SuperAuctions. There was also a nice working Space Duel there that ended at $265. I had $600 cash in my pocket at that auction... I left the auction and later looked at the picture of the Warlords... and kicked myself... I still do... it was NICE!!!
