Arcade Auction June 18th Broomall Pa

And the only game I took home today.

Thanks Jamie, and staff. Good auction. :)

NFS was Buy It Now for $400 (not working). I snagged it to keep it from disappearing (stuff was moving during the Buy It Now phase, there were a couple of motivated home buyers on the scene). I have another NFS project game (from kbodder here on the group), and am trying to make at least one good one, and possibly then use the good one to diagnose/complete the other one.

It'll be fun to work on. I'm a long-time fan of the NFS franchise and driving games in general.

If anyone has any Global VR parts they want to sell, let me know. Especially the custom stuff like the Nytric I/O board (v1.5 or newer) or GVRI/O board (with NFS firmware).

Thanks,
-Todd

I had a good time as usual. Got a few good deals, and sold some equipment for prices that I wanted to move them along for. Less MILF's on rollerskates, no cheesesteak (although I stopped at Delco's on the way home and got a cheesesteak that will forever alter the cholesterol content in my body).

There was a low turnout this time around, which I'm going to attribute to this auction being in the middle of June. Operators have already spent their alloted cash for their summer stops, and home owners are concentrating their money on vacation and outdoor activities. It's just not as good a time of year than, say, after Labor day, when all of the ops are dumping their summer inventory as well as buying for the winter season, and the homeowners start to think about what they are buying for Xmas.

Good show, and I hope Lou and crew decide to do it again sometime.

Next Auction October and If succesful December

Yes light turn out but over all not nearly as bad as it looked on our end.
We need support in order to keep this going other wise it's 500 miles or bust to the nearest auction.
Since I own the arena I can hook Lou up in the off season but when Hockey Season is in full gear we can't take any chances blocking out rink time for the possibility of a busted Auction.

So we gave him the Third Saturday in October and Tentativly the Second Sat in December.

If those two bust than the auction business is over.

Auction

It helps the Arcade Auction cause that I am a junkie for machines and a die hard hobbiest but I cant afford to let it mess with my bread and butter.

I wanted to make this one, but decided to go skydiving w/ some friends instead... October should be good... I'll try to make that one.

Now i am just offering suggestions and please don;t take this as me trying to tell you what to do. I have experience with these things and i just wanted to offer some insight because we both share the same love for arcades as well as everyone on this site.

First thing is first. You really need to give it time for a reoccuring auction to firmly root itself. You can't just have a handful and say your done with it if it isn't a good turn out. Unless of course its cutting into your expenses. It takes time to make your mark.

Secondly your in a territory that is barely alive. The arcade business is really on life support. you have to keep that in mind.
At auction you have 4 types of people coming

Casual People- Looking to pick up a game for the "game room"
Venders - Looking to dump machine and possibly purchase different titles
Collectors- I fall into this category. Just people that collect for a hobby
Resellers- People who know the market enought to know what they can buy cheap and resell high

what you have to do is really market thwe auction and i seen you did so on here and craigslist. but you always have to assume not everyone knows so you have to put it into the paper and possibly even auctionzip.com . i don't knwo if you listed there but that place can draw a crowd.

another thing you could do is if you are going to have one, might as well make money on other indivuals. see if any local game stores and any local venders would liek to setup and stand the day of the auction. When i would do mine i would offer 10 by 10 spot for one money and it gave the event more attension. visually its make peopel think "hell. i coudl buy good deals off these venders and then when the auction starts maybe pick up a game or two". basically instead of treating it just like an auction open yourself up to the idea of making it a "gathering" or even a small " convention". this way you could attract more people and give them a reason to wait for the next one.

lastly i think the last two dates are way to close together. you should definitly have the one in december cause you'll be entertaining the christmas notion of getting a gift. i would say you should have went early september then december. being to close together i think your setting yourself up for failure.

if you would like i could help at the next auction by doing a auction video for you guys.
i will definitly hit the next two up.

Hey I don't know if this was talked about on here already but a reality show will be following one famous Klover and long time Arcade pioneer around at the auction tomorrow. Be awesome for everyone if it actual makes it on cable. Good Luck **** I wont say who because I don't know if I was supposed to talk about it.

Did anything ever become of this?
