Does anyone else have this. I start one project then I find myself looking for more projects before I have even barely started the first one. I don't know how to stay focused on one game. Have about 5 projects now in front of me.

I'm with ya. Started by just grabbing everything I could that seemed like a good deal. I still get antsy every time I see something pop up on CL but I've been trying to lay off because I don't need more projects.

Though recently I've been getting quite a bit of satisfaction from knocking things off the "to do" list (or maybe it's just the buzz from the bondo...)

If it wasn't for the wife...I think I would be broke with a garage full of machines...but she makes me finish one at a time before moving on....

I have this !
Funny how many truths seem the same for many of us.
I too get satisfaction in crossing things off the "to do" list.
I can't resist a deal, however I've gotten better at doing so.
And if it were not for the wife (and constant constant constant complaints) I'm sure id even have a more full plate.

I'm not sure if anyone here with this ADD suffers from second guessing ones self ?
My first MAME project took over a year, I was scared to do everything. I recall getting a shock from my 25" Sony PVM monitor....that was not good ! It kept me away for quite a bit.
Now I've gained confidence in the work I do, but I still do second guess myself.
For example I have a yellow project cabinet I'm working on right now that was going to be a MAMEMANIA machine. MAME + console emulation and just wrestling games. I later scrapped that idea and decided I'd do Bad Dudes.. but now that my Bad Dudes board is giving me issues I can not decide what to do. The lack of direction has called me to stall !

Can't win !

with my arcade game I have procrastination: I need to fix the monitor but it's not 100% dead yet. It's just too darn bright in the yellow white rage and I'm about to order a cap kit when I get home...

Good ol' if it aint broke don't fix it syndrome !
I really need to go back to the good old classic "TO DO" list.
The sense of satisfaction one gets from crossing a project off really helps.

I laugh about a cabinet I have outside.
All it requires is I pull a Bad Dudes board from one machine, re-wrap the control panel, and do the jamma wiring. Honestly 2,3 hours work @ best ? Yet weekends pass and I don't even look.

I find that people in this hobby simply run Hot N' Cold! Seems to be the nature of things.
I also ask do many of you guys (or gals) find you spend more time working and less time playing ?

That could be part of the reason !

I am technically at 2 projects right now. My TRON stopped booting up and my Moon Patrol likes kickkng me in the balls. I won't let myself take on a third project unless it's a stellar deal.

I for sure do more work than play....even once its fully restored...I would rather wipe off a days worth of dust than play the game....not saying I don't ever play...but always looking to do something to keep it clean...or make it better...

Ha..story of my arcade. From the day I bought my first pin, it wasn't "done." Always been WIP, although it actually plays now. MAME cabinet still in progress after a year. Now I need to unload a perfectly good JAMMA cabinet to make room for the n/w Turbo I picked up last weekend. Oh, and there's that Magic City pin still beckoning for some coils and switch adjustment.

That was 2011 for me. Now I'm trimming back. Taking in less work, and thinning my workbench. Trying to stay on top of my current fleet of games is enough to keep me busy.

I have it bad!!!
I've got 70 projects and the list continues to grow. I lose interest when it comes time for the cosmetic aspects. Once i get them going I find it to be a real struggle to motivate myself to make them pretty. The boxes of artwork for all my games are piling up though and I'm going to have to start repairing cabs and applying art one of these days.....
