Living in a town that used to make stuff is cool sometimes. I live in machesney park il and arachnid was based in loves park/rockford il(like 3 miles away).. I love it when stuff like this reminds me of the good old days..

I found an arachnid dartboard by the side of the road last night. Its a home use, wall mount, big square bastard. Its made from like a presswood material. Home use(no coin mech) it appears to use the very same single bull darthead that arachnid used for years. It shows a model number of ad2000 and a serial number of 000656.Stickers inside show copyright arachnid 1986. From what i remember the true ad2000 was a large coin op bar machine right??? Weird.. Anyways...

I found this machine to have the ac adapter cut off. Upon disassambly of the main pcb both 5 volt regulators are cooked.. Someone mustve used too large of a power supply or something..

The regulators are lm340t5 (from what i can tell, they are pretty charred)

I found these at rat shack, think they will work??? http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062599

And one last question: Does anyone know what voltage/amperage ac adapter these machines used originally?? Im guessing somewhere between 6 and 12 volts but it would be nice to know for sure.

I do not know the ac answer, but according to my trusty nte book of magic--
7805a=nte 960
lm340t5=nte 960

I know Bob Roberts gets $1.00 each for the regulators. The local J-Tronics probably looking around 5 bucks or so.
Hope that helps!

Ken, THANK YOU.

Do you have any idea what voltage ac adapter they used to use?? circa 1986 im thinking a 9 volt ac adapter....

looks like th newer ones used a 9 volt as well.. screw it thats what i will try.

awesome!!!! Thanks again ken.

I thought i had some of these regs in stock, turns out i was right but i only have one (this uses two for some odd reason) so i guess my fin will be postponed until i get more parts.

well, epic fail so far.

I found another 5vreg, so i installed those and did a little trace work.

One side, perfect 5v output.

THe other one onyl has about 2.3 volts output and runs hot. If i pull the output leg i have a nice +5 so the new regs are ok.

I temporarily installed some jumpers so i could "pulse power output" on command... I found one of four big ics, a mm5450n is getting red hot. Id be willing to bet if i pulled it my +5 pulldown issue would be gone.

Im going to assume these are driver ics for the score displays?? Because what i get right now on the numeric displays kind of reminds me of the "suicide bomb" at the end of the original predator movie :D

I suppose my next step is to get one or two of these ics, and pray to hell in a handbasket that my led score displays are o.k.

UGH.. located everywhere EXCEPT the united states. Balls. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odk...ksid=p2045573.m570.l1313&_nkw=mm5450&_sacat=0

Not to thread jack, but so far every IC I have needed for the coin op version board repairs ive been doing have had to come from outside the US lol, the ones I have found in the US the people have usually wanted 3 times as much as the cost + shipping from outside the US.
