Any specific issues I need to be aware of while looking to purchase?
Gameplay opinions?
What are you guys paying lately?
Thanx

I like it, artwork is great, cool theme, has some cool features like the ball save cages, magnet on the ramp, the magic lamp. It's not that deep of a game, but I have fun playing it. I don't own one, so I'm not sure if it would get old quick or not. Everytime I'm at a buddy's that has one of find one on location I have to play it. It does seem to have a pretty hefty price tag, from what I've seen $3000+ depending on condition. Good luck in your search, I would like to own one someday. I just have 4-5 pins that are higher wants on my list. :)

I love this pic.

i have a totan, its a great game, great flo, great sounds, great art,it will hold up for a long time to come.i hate to say it,but i would rather spend 3000.00-4000 on 15 year old williams title, than anything new stern has to offer.williams was #1 for a reason, and if they were still making machines, stern wouldnt even be in business anymore.if you can find a decent one for 3000 or less go for it,you wont be dissapointed.

I used to own one. It was amazing! I needed money and so I had to let it go as it was a $3000k plus machine.

It doesn't have a huge rules sheet type of machine but the colors, sounds, music and a couple of one liners are great. The artwork of the cabinet is the best among the best.

What to look for when purchasing:

1) Infamous for insert wear. Look for white milky type areas around the inserts. They were known for lifting off for this title for some reason.
2) Ensure that the multiball works (as it has a complex magnet lowered to under playfield type of mechanism. Ensure lamp spins great also.
3) The Bazaar scope is also infamous for breaking. Although they have reproductions that are now even stronger than the original, look for that possible damage when negotiating a price.
4) The gold painted apron is often corroded.
5) The scoop holes (or the multiball magnet hole) has often playfield wear.
6) The cabinet often has fade to it. Check out ipdb or other sites to see how the full color of head and cabinet side is supposed to look.

Good luck. It is a fine machine.

Played one on site here a few times. It was an easier table, but it had enough stuff on it to keep you playing, for sure. I played for about an hour on a couple bucks (i suck at pinball, btw)

It does have a bigger price tag, and seems to be in higher demand, but if you get a good deal on it, I'd say go for it. I doubt you'll tire of it quickly.

A friend of mine is storing his Arabian Nights in my basement. To be honest, I hated it at first, but now it's the machine I play the most (I have Arabian Nights, Episode 1, Revenge from Mars, Black Knight, Breakshot and Lost World).

It has great long shots and good flow. It is a favorite also when company comes over.

Man I wish I had a friend like that....

I've decided this is my next Williams purchase bumped ahead of Indy...

I love this pin! Played it about 2 dozen times and never got tired of it! My only real complaint about it is your ability to "cheat" and get the jewels from the bazaar rather than completing the tales.....

Which Lost World do you have? Agree on TOTAN being a great flow game. Despite already owning a CV, I still want a TOTAN *and* a Theater of Magic!

I'll go against the grain on this one. There's plenty of pins that are just as good if not better to be had for the price TOTAN commands. TOTAN is a beautiful looking game in every aspect of art. But as far as being said to have great flow - if they had removed that stupid lamp then I might agree but as it sits I don't care for it. I would probably be ok with it - if it served a dual purpose like the bookcase on TAF does.

Personally I'd rather have 2 or 3 pins instead of one expensive one. But I certainly do understand what it means to fall in love with a game and it becomes a "MUST HAVE" item.

Ground Kontrol has one and it is the only one I've ever played. I've sunk a fair amount of money into it as well as read the rule sheet. I like to observe people and see what games inspire them to play. Over the past few months I've been observing the (A) list games and how much they get played verses a B list game. While it would be nice to hear from ART @ GK about individual earnings (In fact I think I'll drop him an email right now) I'll just say my observances is CV and TOTAN will get a coin drop or two but then people walk away. I will then see them go to other machines and drop $2.00 a setting. Different strokes for different folks. What ever you do NEVER buy a game just because someone recommended it. Especially when you're thinking about dropping $3K+

Yeah, he has a CV at HIS house that I am trying to convince him he does not have room for, LOL. He asked one day if I had room, and I was like, "heck yeah!!" I have his ToTan, Breakshot, and I bought my Star Wars Episode 1 from him as well. In his garage are 2 Xenons, a Black Hole and Mr & Mrs Pac Man. I need to 'store' those as well, LOL!!!

I have the Bally Lost World from 1978.

Who said anything about 3k?!? Is that what people are paying for this pin?

more than 3k that is why i said if you can find it for 3k or less, generally between 3 -3500 and if you get to multiball at the end you will know why it goes for so much.

It's a beautiful game that doesn't have much staying power. My 3rd time ever playing it I completed the game. You can basically just buy your way to the end in the bazaar and it's kind of disappointing how short the journey is to the end of the game. The modes are entertaining, but still, there are games that offer much better challenges.

It is definitely a top 10 in my book in regards to art, but in a small collection it'll wear thin rapidly in the gameplay department. At the price it demands I'd much rather own a Simpsons Pinball Party, Lord of the Rings, Twilight Zone, White Water, etc..
