I have my trusty never broke pole position2 know back to reality I just got all the parts and pieces back and started putting things back together and noticed my ar2 board was out putting almost 12 volts so I went through it and replaced all the caps that got the voltage down to about 8 volts. To eliminate the wiring I plugged a known working board into the harness and it was outputting 5.15 give or take. Any ideas

2N3055 transistor took a shit (the big one in the middle of the heat sink).

The AR-II boards may read a bit high with no load if the pass transistor (typically a 2N3055) is a bit leaky, the model with diodes in place of the sense resistors cause the output to go high because of the diode drop on the two sense leads, if you get 5.15V with a load I wouldn't be concerned, you should be able to adjust it with the pot, if it won't adjust far enough down you may need to replace the transistor or check the rest of the circuit.

Thanks Edward that was the problem. Next ques it orig shot almost 12 volts into the 5 volt line which is what happened to the board set I brought you maybe explains the blown diode well my pole position board is dead could be the same problem as the board you looked at what do you think.
