Was just curious if theres any interest in rescreening Pinball Aprons?
not doing a run of speffic repros
but would take your orginal apron and scan, repaint and then silkscreen the art back on to your orginal apron.
since I dont think it would be cost effective to MFg new aprons for the various makes and models and help avoid any copyright intanglments with the Pin companies/license holders

Ive had some requests over the years and thought Id look into this alittle more and guage interest
No price point but would estimate a 2-3 color print to be in the $75 range and turn time would be aprox 2-3weeks

that sounds like a cool idea for people who want their machine to look the best they can and don't want to hunt for ever to find one in better shape.

I assume you would be scanning and recreating the artwork and building slowly a nice little library of apron art.

I have to think you could do really well at this (as in worth your time/money). Not like saying I wish you'd repro XXXXX because I want it, but there has to be a need for this, especially considering the extent cosmetically and $$ and pin restore can go.

I know that personally, I'd like to see the Bally aprons done. There should be a good bit of overlap - don't need new art for every apron, just different colors. I would purchase KISS and Playboy..and they appear to be the same screens, just different colors.

I would also want Fathom, but it's a different design, but looks like Xenon.

This has been brought up on RGP. Closest service I've seen is a guy using water decals to do Playboy.

Put your feelers out on rec.games.pinball. I think this would do well. You'd get my money!

Rich,

I would say you'd open yourself up to entire new market...a great one at that too..pinball collectors will spend big bucks for those small detailed touches that make a game minty looking...that's one of the few pinball parts that you can't find NOS version of many times...even Steve Young of the Pinball Resource doesn't seem to have NOS Aprons for pins..and with all the truck full of parts he purchased when he got rights to all of Gottliebs nos stock and right to repro new parts...it seems that part was made only in quantities for the production numbers of each pin since you don't see them unless a game is parted out.

Yeah pinball is huge. You have to make sure you get it spot on though 'cos those pinballers are a whining bunch of bastards.

The apron on my STTNG was rusted so I did the vector for that. Don't think you could use it though due to copyright. Not sure.

I say go for it!

What do you meeeeeeeeeeeeenn??? We don't whiiiiiiiiiine ?????

You most certainly do! If the paint is 1 shade too light they would run around like chicken little and post nasty things on RGP.

Pinballers are wierd man. They stick on a little toy or add a light on the playfield and call it a 'mod', lol.

Oh, did I forget to mention I have 6.

I don't post on RGP...haha.

Neither do I. I do watch it and send private emails to some people when they are selling something I am interested in but that is it. They are the biggest group of whining girls I have ever seen in my life. I actually cringe every time I see someone point them towards KLOV...

My advice to Rich is make the screenings but don't advertise on RGP and NEVER read any review of your product on RGP, the headache will not be worth it...

Yes..RGP definatley will give you a headache and when you sell something on their if you think the Price Police on here are bad....I sold a Rocky Pin on the site and it was funny to see everyone tell me how wrong I was about what I was asking..but then privately getting 50 plus emails trying to work a deal for it...I ended up getting more than I wanted..and guy drove all the way from Canada to pick it up...so there RGP experts..just a bunch of whiners ...but not all ...I'm friends with a few of the good guys in the hobby..the rest I could do without..:D

C'mon now...I've been active on rgvac/rgp for about 10 years, long before much of the experienced guys got fed up and quit posting. There are whiners everywhere, but rgp has a massive knowledge base. Even though I don't post much here and I do see there are some GOOD guys here..don't get me wrong...there are surely many more whiners and price-police types than rgp has ever seen.

There's a tendency to scrutinize the price when something rare, like a Rocky pin, comes up for sale. I remember that one. There were some tacky posts, but not for the most part. The trend I've seen on rgp is that most are willing to pay what something is worth, rather than nickel and dime it to death.

Haha to funny Burt :p I suppose I can be a smart ass :) I'll pick that one over retard hahahahha

You get out of RGP what you put into it. I also try to help with troubleshooting over there when I can. Hopefully when I need help people see that I contribute and they may be more inclined to help me with my issues...

RGP is also the most helpful place to get technical support. It's not all bad. There are retards and smart asses on every forum...

Which one are you,Tom??? Just kidding.

I would probably be interested. Here is a picture of the apron on my project Firepower:

To be honest I was going to make this my first vector project but its hard to find the time. I have some nice high res scans of a nice apron I could provide.

RGP is not all that bad. I have posted there for years and I haven't had any notable problems with anyone there. The main issue RGP has is so many people respond to the troll posts or responses to a thread. Just leave those alone.

Something else to mention too. If you post about the aprons on RGP get ready for some Cease and Desist letters from Wayne @ the Pinball Factory. He holds the rights to reproduce parts and I guarantee you will have problems with him. If this becomes a volume business you might want to discuss licensing fees with him or like others have said just keep it to this forum. There are other people that read RGP and these forums so I would expect a leak sometime.

Might speak with the guys at Classic Playfield Reproductions about licensing, if it's needed. Most of the time, Wayne is blowing smoke. He also claimed to be selling reproduction Medievel Madness machines this year, and that has appeared to be a scam.

Hey wow thanks for the feedback looks like Im tounchin on somethin here
for the most part these aprons are generally pretty simplistic in terms of art and yeah
a small library of art could be built along with pantone colors so in theory it should get easier as I go and color is what I do best :D

Licensing can always be problematic but theres usally holes and grey areas that Ill look for here.
which is why Im not "reproducing" aprons Im offering a service to screenprint your orginal.
Im going to move forward and do a couple of my own and do a completed blog post before going over to the RGP
