Ok weird question if I am applying full size decal side art for my zoo keeper what is the best way to prepare a plain plywood wood side to hold the decals. Is it best to leave it bare wood, wood hardener only, prime it, roll paint on it, use the abs plastic laminate??? I've seen a lot of ms pac side art peeling a few years after it was applied to the MDF and I do not want this to happen on mine.

This is a brand new build, CNC cabinet and replica marquee, bezel... Multi Taito hana ho board. No machines will be harmed to make this! So no hate mail :secruity:

you can clear coat it or varathane it applying enough to be able to sand it smooth without taking it back to wood

or as you said, prime it and then paint white and again sand smooth with 320 to 400 before applying the sideart

lots of info on the interwebs - search for things like applying pinball cabinet decals and you will find tons of differing methods

what ever you decide to use make sure to give it plenty of time to fully cure and off gas before you apply that nice sideart

I use wilsonart formica type side panels before I put any artwork on any cabinet.

43 bux a sheet from home depot.

The easiest method is to apply laminate to the sides first. It is instant perfectly flat sides. There are 2 different thickness of laminate, so choose as needed based upon your T-Molding and panel thickness.

Thanks
