Applying a new Major Havoc (Tempest style) marquee overlay

Last night, I spent a good 4 hours (not kidding) removing an old Major Havoc marquee overlay from a Tempest style marquee. Man, what a messy pain in the ass!

Nash sold me a very nice NOS overlay, which I'm going to apply this afternoon. I figure I've got one shot at getting this right, so I'm hitting up you good restoration folks for some advice.

What's the best way to go about this? Obviously, I need to make sure everything is properly lined up, but should I start by stapling the overlay to the underside of the wood and wrap it around the top, over the glass, and around the bottom? Should I start at the bottom and work my way around the top? Or should I start at the glass and work outward?

There is a Crystal Castles restoration thread by somebody in England (I think) that describes how he put his marquee overlay on. Pretty informative. I don't have the link so you'll have to google it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, may the douchebag(s) who came up with the idea of using an OVERLAY for a marquee (ie: Tempest, Star Wars, Crystal Castles, etc.) slip off a curb and get run over by a bus.

Well... maybe not run over... but seriously maimed.

:D

UPDATE:

I wound up lining it up and taping down the right-hand side of the overlay to the wood. Then I flipped the overlay over (using the tape as sort of a hinge), peeled off the masking, and then applied it right to left across the glass. Then I wrapped the top and bottom around the wood and stapled them into place on the underside of the marquee. I don't know if this was the best way to do it, but I think it came out pretty good:

Here are couple of before pics, so you can see the difference:
