hey ya'll. ive got a complete and working APB and a complete unworking Paperboy. I want to get the paperboy working. the red light on the paperboy pcb comes on but it doesnt even play blind. what would be the easiest way to fix it? switch the chips on the boards as they are very similar?

well, can anyone that has fixed a paperboy at least give me a starting point? the board looks good and gets power, but nothing happens. not even blind play.

hahaha-

I took the guts out of my Paperboy cabinet to put them into a nicer System II cabinet and that damn thing hasn't worked yet!!

hahahaha

There is a test switch on the A/RIII inside the door, but I don't know what it will tell you depending on HOW dead the boards are.

All the ones I've seen have to separate supplies- do you have EVERYTHING hooked up?

i think everything is hooked up. can someone send me a pic of what the board hooked up correctly looks like? or at least tell me if APB and paperboy ran off of the same voltage.

System 2 boards all run on the same voltages. You should be able to take the Paperboy boardset out of your Paperboy cab, and swap it into your fully working APB cabinet in order to test the Paperboy boardset.

Check out your boards first. If they work in the APB, you probably have a power supply problem in your Paperboy.

You can swap chips on these, but that's a heck of a lot of chips to swap.

thanks for the reply 88.

I put the paperboy pcb into the working APB cab and ran into the same issue. It has to be the PCB. The monitor comes up (all garbled) but as soon as I touch the chassis or shake the cab just a bit, it flickers out. and If I touch the chassis, a small spark jumps at one of the screws near the back of the chassis. Need some ideas where to begin looking for the issue.
