I recall playing this game in college ... thought it was pretty fun. Its kind of been one of those "if a good deal comes along I may consider it" type games.

There is a busted one on ebay in my area and I'm thinking of bidding...Link

Even if I got it for the min bid... not sure its even worth that... besides restoration always ends up co$ting me way more than I expect (my fault)...

Just curious as to what's typical on these (besides the med.res monitor issues) or if this is even worth it to try.

Triacs (responsible for flashing the marquee lights) seem to go out. On mine, the marquee just stayed lit solid all the time instead of flashing when you hit the siren button. They're about 4 bucks each from Mouser. You'd need two.

On that note, I need to replace one on my game. How do you know which one to replace?

You could use a scope or maybe a logic probe. A buddy came over and helped me diagnose mine. The triacs are supposed to give out a pulse on one of their legs. IIRC (this was way back in January) on mine the pulse was going into the triac correctly but wasn't coming out the right way.

Or, actually, if you have just one not working you could probably trace it from the bad light right to the suspect triac on the triac board.

I saw that listing too. I just bought a working one.

I'll help you get that working again. We can test the boards
in my cab.

I see in that photo, the switching power supply is missing.

On my game the red light flashes all the time and the blue stays on solid. I never really checked into to it yet. I was thinking its flashing a error code at me....LOL

What is this "triac"? I guess I need them to fix my game.

The triacs on APB are small, silver, cylindrical thingys about the diameter of a peanut, but half the "height." They have three legs. The board they're on is at the bottom of the cab and is about the size of a 3x5 index card. Mine is an off-white color.

And yup, medium res monitor. Really terrible burn on this game, too.

Yeah... I decided not to bid... I really wanted it but can't really spare the space for another game this year. I've yet to finish my Football and DK restorations and I would like to get my vehicles back into the garage before the snow flies...

Thanks for all the info and offers of help (SuperBee4406)... maybe next year if one comes around.

I have a decent one with the seat for 300 if anyone is interested.

It came back for BIN $125.00. So I got it. I will be picking it up very soon! Another friggin' project!
