Does anyone sell something that you can wire up to one of the buttons on a game to turn it into a turbo button? I have a Playchoice and love the game Festers Quest. But you really need to have a turbo button to enjoy the game. Hell, even the team(Sunsoft) that made the game suggest using one. Which I did when I had the game for my NES. So does anyone make something like this?

a simple 555 astable circuit should do the trick, maybe throw in a potentiometer in there to adjust the speed.

could possibly hack a board out of an old NES controler with a built in turbo button if you can get one cheap enough. IIRC the "Advantage" joystick had adjustable turbos.

There is a hack for the XBox 360 controllers to add in a turbo function. Maybe you can do a search for it and install it into your cab. If I recall it is pretty simple, but I don't think the speed was adjustable.

Yea, I'm hoping to find something that is a simple splice into the wiring of the button. I just remember playing this game before I had a turbo controller and it sucked. It wasn't about making the game easier, but about not wearing the skin off your finger.

Yeah, a 555 would do it (though you should really drive the output with an open collector driver). I think the 558 is actually open collector... maybe use that?

Also, Galaga had a board in it that was selectable between normal and hold the button to repeatedly fire (not the same as the fast shooting hacked ROM). You may be able to hack one of them to do what you want... you can see the schematics for it on pg. 78 of the manual (just a 556 and 7400).
