Anything new from JROK coming up?

I keep waiting for a new project announcement, that make me want to punch dance. I have all of his boards some in multiples except for the bezerk/frenzy. If I had the game I would have that one 2!

come on James, please bless us once again with you amazing skills and if you do!! I hope it has warlords on it[emoji4][emoji4][emoji4][emoji4]

MCR would be cool, but let me fix all my spare stacks so I can sell them :)
+2 for me on MCR.

I know a multi vector would be great for many people, but those vector monitors aren't easily available unless you pay a fortune to get one. An MCR game & cabinet can be made at a reasonable price with a raster monitor.

VL has already done the SEGA vector multi-boards with multi-sound. Not much point in doing it again.
In an FPGA? I thought that kit was meant to run on original SEGA hardware, which some don't have. I'm fine being wrong here.

No, not in an FPGA, it was modifications to original HW.

Yes, but these are different than the originals correct? In that, the original JROK was running Williams hardware, while this board is emulating the hardware? Is that correct?

Cowgill MWMS ran on real WMS hardware.
JROK MWMS is quasi-emulation (debatable) on FPGA hardware and jammatized.

I'm going to go with: No, not emulation

Replacing hardware TTL gates with hardware level gates in an FPGA is not emulation.

What runs these boards isn't magic, it's just digital logic, which functionally can be replicated at the hardware level in an FPGA, which just a really really big array of 74LS00 gates and 74LS74's.

Let's try a thought experiment:

Custom IC's replacements ( like the currently very popular LETA ) they're built on programmable logic same as an FPGA so are they emulation ?
Also the CPLD based pac SBC/VRA which replace the TTL plug-in, which replaced the NV284/285, are those emulation ?

How many gates have to be replaced before it becomes emulation ?

LOL, a word is a word is a word ... some are dirty, some are not. :D
Maybe "imitate" is better than "emulate".

em·u·la·tion
ˌemyəˈlāSH(ə)n/
noun
noun: emulation; plural noun: emulations

  1. effort to match or surpass a person or achievement, typically by imitation.
"their success is inspiring emulation from others"
    • Computing
reproduction of the function or action of a different computer, software system, etc.
      "software emulation of complete systems"

Needless, you aren't answering the main question of the thread. Though, I don't expect you to. (not my thread)

I've always been fond of simulation, not emulation. It's totally different then emulation, but I think most people have a hard time understanding the difference.

BTW, since this started to become a request thread, have you ever thought of doing a FPGA Sega System 16?

Jrok is not emulation. For a williams lovers it's the best thing to ever happen. Replace those flaky old Williams board for a beautiful reliable replacement. It plays identical to the original boards. My opinion. Others may nit pick but if you like any of the classic williams, pick up a jrok while they are still available. Order direct from jrok!

I'll go with that :)

Also, the one's in stock at Arcadeshop came directly from James, so they are the same as ordering from him. Sounds like JROK and AS have them in stock, from responses here.

Thanks for all the inquiries !

I have a number of projects in progress right now, but I don't like to make public announcements before the hardware is running to a reasonable extent ( like fully playable, but maybe without the sound ). I'll put some vids up soon as I have something good to show.

There will be some updates to Namco custom ic replacements, and I'll actually building some more in the coming weeks.

In the meantime all the other boards are available either directly or from arcadeshop.
