Anything arcade related to visit in Sacramento area?

Starting next Sunday I'll be in Sacramento for three weeks and was wondering if there is anything arcade related I should check out to kill my down time. Is there anyone in the area willing to hang out?

Not really. There is a Scandia mini golf place a bit outside of Sacremento but it's kind of sad and has the bare minimum of good arcade games.

Roseville, which is up fwy 80 a bit has a big arcade and some retro stuff. Nothing amazing but it's probably the best in the area.

It's kinda an hour and a half away but there is the Pacific Pinball Exposition

Dates: Friday September 23rd through Sunday September 25th, 2011

I will be at the expo Sat and Sun.

Shoot me a PM... I'm in The Sacramento/Roseville area...

Playland Not At The Beach is probably an hour from there too huh? It's a good place to visit. Not sure about right in Sac though. Tron Guy will probably let you come by and play some Punch Out or...lets see...Tron!

so areyou flying out or can you haul a game out for me? :)

Im drivng but I have a smaller truck with a topper on it so all I am willing to haul and able to haul is a cocktail or a cabaret. Ill have to much equipment to haul anything else

Well as mentioned there is scandia off of 80. Think mini golf and arcade. Not any classics just moderately new stuff. Head up 80 a bit more and there is golf land. Basically a bigger mini golf and arcade. Still few to no classics. A little further you take 80 to 65 near the galleria and there is a Dave and Busters. As D&B go it's not that big and most games are redemption but the video games they do have are mostly the newest titles so that's kinda cool. Almost forgot john's incredible universe. Actually it's not much for video games but there are a few. It's a pizza buffet style place with a few indoor kids rides, redemption games and a few vids. I think a couple pins too.

As people mentioned if you have time to take the 2 hr drive to the bay area there are a few pretty cool spots that have classic games.

Depending on when you will be around the area it may be possible to meet up with some of us sacramento locals and maybe drop by our spots. I might be able to get my game room semi workable in the near future.

ok....Just read that you will be here for three weeks. we should make it a point to try and meet up.

Well, if you're gonna be in San Francisco... If you head down south to Santa Cruz (little over an hour from SF) go to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Admission is free. They have several arcades. If you go to the "Laser Tag/Miniature Golf Arcade" (at the end of the Boardwalk) they have a lot of classic games. Last time I was there they had a Star Trek SOS as well as many other classic games from the early 80's. The other Boardwalk arcades have the shooters and DDR's and the more current games. If you like classics, this would be the place to go.

Guy looks like I'll be back and forth between Oakland and sacremto area. I will be staying in sacremento every night though. I got a look at my schedule and it looks like I'm off Fridays and Saturday's, does anyone wanna do something next fri or sat?

Anyone at all wanna hang out or have me over? I'm always looking for cheap cocktails like the boot leg Japan space invaders. Anyone wanna organize a meet?

I'm pretty far off your path I think but you could stop in if you want. But it looks like you will probably be driving right past both the Scandia in Fairfield which has quite a few A-list pins and other stuff, and also Playland Not At The Beach which also has a lot of A-list pins and some old 5 and 10 cent games and stuff.

Looks your only about a hr from where I'll be so I wouldn't mind driving down if we do some kind of meet with other collectors. I'm off all day fri and sats so I'm good to drive a bit

you're welcome to stop by my humble "arcade"... i'm north of san francisco by about 30 miles... but on the way from sacto to sf (a little out of the way to oakland) if you need a classics fix... although the party isn't til the end of october, a drink and a couple games and meeting another collector is always nice

besides the public arcades already suggested, if you're in my neck of the woods Starbase*1 Arcade on 4th street in San Rafael is one of the last real arcades i know of... while there is a lot of newer stuff (all arcade though, no redemption) there are a few classics, the owner is great (chat him up) and also runs games in Pinky's Pizza on the other side of the freeway

musee mecanique in sf is also good fun
