Why is Sanders even playing, didn't he just LIE about his DK score back in the day?
Maybe they forgave him and he's still a decent player?
Who cares? I just want to know if I'm really getting my marquee and if it will be signed.![]()
I had my own Kong Off and got a new high score!

DK was the "first one he lied about"
That comment had always confused me. He is basically saying he lied about more scores then that.
LOL

From the article I read he did get a kill screen and he talked to Billy Mitchell on the phone who had gotten one a few weeks after him. And Steve described the kill screen. Here is the article. http://www.examiner.com/arcade-game...-original-king-of-kong-steve-sanders-part-one

Thanks for posting that link. I think I'd read part of that before, but must have forgotten about the kill screen. I see he did it on an early boardset with the ladder cheat, and with 6 men to start (although that's still quite an accomplishment)
I think the Steve Saunders is cool. I mean, the guy made a really poor decision back when he was a teenager but he came clean back then too. He's a grown man now and he handles himself really well.
Out of all the people wrapped up in the whole King of Kong movie I think he comes accross as having the most character. He's apparently close friends with Billy Mitchell but he doesn't let that dictate the way he treats Steve Weibe. While people like Brian Kugh were being assholes to Weibe, Steve took the time to meet him and judge for himself, and made friends with him. It takes a lot of character to risk offending your friends to do the decent thing. He comes accross as really learning from his mistakes. I know you can't necessarily rely on documentaries to tell you how a person is in real life but I've seen enough interviews, etc, to see he's a good guy.
+1
You shouldn't make pre-judgments about a person based on a movie. But that's not even the point. I completely agree with JamBurglar. He made a mistake when he was a kid and he's a grown man who can look back at it and laugh.
I think all of us could say we made mistakes in our teen years, probably worse than lying about video game scores.
Same with Billy who gets the title of "bad buy" for how he was portrayed in the movie. Sure, he comes off as cocky and whatnot, but from what I've heard from other guys who have met him, he's very kind and generous in person.
