Anyone use the X-Arcade controller? Your thoughts?

It's meh. You need to replace the joysticks to get performance out of it.

meh you still need a usb brain but I still think that is costs to much just for a rewire project...

What's expensive? You can get a ZeroDelay encoder from Vigo over on BYOAC for about $15 shipped for a single player device. Or for a 2 player device you could go with a Xin Mo for about $30 shipped including wires to wire everything up.

Depends on how CHEAP cheap is. You'll want to replace the sticks at minimum. If it was $20... buy it.

My buddy used to have one. We used it quite a bit back in the day to play mame.
I never experienced any problems with it at all. Obviously better than a keyboard.

$75? Not worth it IMHO... I assume it's a double stick (full panel) not one of those single ones?

$75 isn't bad. Even if you can buy all the wood, hardware, t-molding and such for that price(unlikely), you still have to factor in time building the thing.

If you plan on playing a bit of mame, go for it.

I use mine for MAME all the time, thinking about replacing the joysticks with optical but other than that they work great, no complaints.

bad controller, don't see the use of getting one - there are much, much better options if you want a joystick for console stuff, and if you want something for an arcade cabinet, the x-arcades always look hilariously goofy/terrible installed in one.

She wants $75.

Offer $50 (hoping to get it for $60) and buy two of the IL Euros from Paradise Arcade for $20 plus shipping. The build quality is very good, but the buttons and sticks are crappy. Get rid of the bottom two buttons too, they just get in the way. They sell button plugs for cheap.

The standard one can be had for 100 bucks on sale so I'd offer less than 75. I have an older dual stick and a friend has the tank stick. Personally I think they are pretty good. Mine is from years ago when the only option was ps2 to connect them(I have their adapter to run mine via usb). The other option is something like the ultimarc interface.

Anyway I've been happy with mine and my friend who has a tank stick is happy with his. I'd be looking at a tank stick myself.

great in theory, really bad in person. 2 player is terrible since the control panels are so close to eachother.
