anyone upgraded system 6 flippers to WPC?

Loving the Alien Poker. And now I am in OMG I NEED TO FIX EVERYTHING I CAN mode. On the first day I was messing with everything I could to learn how it all works. Adjusted the flippers so they work pretty good, but they need a rebuild. Headed over to pinrepair to see what it said. Non replaceable coil stops is pretty lame >.<. Then I got to the part where he says you can install WPC flipper units in there. Seems like a no brainer to me and I am not too worried about the price. Has anyone done this? Might you have any bits of information that would be usefull? My main worry is that they might be too powerful after ;)

I would use WPC mechanisms with the original coils. That way you'll get the original strength with a better, more serviceable mechanism.

I agree. I never did like the old base plate with the non-replaceable coil stop. The newer assembly is so much better.

did just one flipper last night so I could compare. Holy crap that is one hell of a difference. While manually moving the flippers you can just feel how much smoother the action is. Going to do the last two tonight.

It makes future repair on the flippers much easier too with the newer assemblies. It's a lot easier to change the end-of-stroke switch on the new assembly.

Suggestion: I would add a 2.2 uf yellow mylar capacitor wired across the end-of-stroke switch terminals like later machines have. It reduces pitting and burning of the switch contacts (makes the switch last much longer).

Does the capacitor really make much of a difference on the older coils? The ones with the caps added were parallel wound, but these are series. Never really tried adding the capacitors, but I know other forums have debated the effectiveness of the caps on the series wound coils.
