Anyone tried the flat Nintendo molding from mikesarcade??

Wouldn't is be exactly what t-molding.com sells, which is the same as what ArcadeShop sells, which all comes from Outwater Plastics?

I was thinking that too,I also thought that the molding was only being made specifically for Chomping quarters and no one else? How can Mikesarcade sell it for almost half the price as arcadeshop?

Sorry the thread got off track with me using the wrong name. I meant to say Chomping quarters molding versus Mikes arcade, not Arcadeshop sorry.

Mikesarcade= $11
Chomping quarters = $20

SO ultimately...what is the difference between these two sellers product besides price? I always go with (you get what you pay for) I was more than pleased with my molding I got from CQ just wanted to know what to expect from MA.

Use your search fu. The stuff from arcadeshop, mikesarcade etc is all outwater plastics product. The stuff at chompingquarters.com is forum member audiomidiman and he did a custom run, custom tooled and custom color matched to DK. There is no closer to original tmolding out there from anyone anywhere. It's more expensive, but it is accurate.

I don't need to search because I knew all of this already. I have followed Audiomidimans threads from the very beginning and have his molding on three of my machines so I know the quality first hand. All I asked was what to expect with Mikes molding.

Did you look at the thread I posted? There are several comments about how Mike's t-molding is not flat. Mike himself even posted in it. I believe that there are even pictures.

If you want the one that truly looks like the original, then get it from Chomping Quarters.

If you don't really care that it is exactly like the original (and actually pretty close to regular t-molding), then buy from Mike's.......

So if you knew all that already, then you knew the whole reason for the chomping quarters project was because mikes was not accurate in the first place right? It's only referenced a thousand times in those threads :)

According to Friz.......

OK... but when you remove old Nintendo T-Molding it's perfectly flat... it doesn't rebound...at all...

Mikes stuff is better than T-Molding.com's, but it's still does not lay perfectly flat like original Nintendo T-Molding, no matter how much you whap it with a rubber mallet.

I have one PO cab with T-Molding.com's and the other with Mikes. Mikes IS better... but still not the same as original Nintendo stuff...

There is no true Nintendo t-molding available, period.

Well technically, none of them are correct. Since the reproduction "true-flat" is made of a soft, flexible pvc and is not semi-gloss finish. And of course, none of the others are flat at all.

Original stuff is flat, hard, and shiny - those 3 attributes have yet to be remanufactured accurately.

I'm sure everyone's respective products are just dandy and wonderful, just sayin'.

I got the stuff from Mikes, it's definitely not flat like the original stuff, have some on a DK cab I have right now and the original stuff is really flat.
The Mikes T-molding though has a real nice shape to it...at least to me and I prefer the look of it over the flat repro stuff.

Bill opted for the flexible pvc so it will not get brittle and yellow over time like the original.
It should outlast by far the original molding.

What are you on dope?:D
