I was bored so I watched it on Netflix tonight. It was a cool documentary but boy, Billy Mitchell sure comes across as an arrogant ass hat! Although his wife sure has some tig ole bittys! :) Anyways, I'm glad after just checking the twin galaxies website, of 9/20/10, Steve Wiebe holds the DK record at 1,064,500. Steve seems like a cool down to earth dude so I'm rooting for him!! Billy Mitchell can choke on his own hot sauce! :)

king of kong was entertaining, and yes most likely 95% of the people on this forum have seen it, more than half probably twice. another good arcade game doc is chasing ghosts. check it out.

I have the DVD and watched it a few times.

Steve came across as an irresponsible, selfish, self-absorbed person who shouldn't even be a parent. Unemployed and spending his time playing Donkey Kong to break a record? Stupid. In one scene, his child needed assistance after going to the bathroom, and the tool just kept playing the game and yelled at the kid. Gee, now that's classy.

Billy came across as cocky about his feats, but rightfully so. He was great at the game and knew it. He didn't act any differently that how most people would be in his situation.

Overall, a great flick to catch. Steve just needs his butt kicked back to mature responsibility.

I actually still have not seen this movie yet. One day..

I'd planned to see it in the theatre when it came out, and it never came out at one near me.

I'm wondering if Ripweade has any children. Just sayin.

As with any KoK movie thread, the documentary was pieced together in such a way as to create more than was probably actually there.

Not all is as it seems BUT I still enjoy watching the film with friends who have not seen it yet.

If I was nearing 1,000,000 points on DK, and had to choose between loosing it and my kid shitting his pants, Id take the score and change his pants like he has a thousand times before.

What did you find good about Chasing Ghosts? I think it tried to make most of the people profiled look like weirdos.

I saw it just a week ago. It's available to check out of the Nashville Public Library if anyone else lives in the area. I thought it was interesting.

Ripweade knows he's full of shit. He's just trying to stir things up. :)

I hope so...I yell at my kids all the time when I'm playing games. I've got 2 that are 13 months apart and they're ALWAYS on each other. 5 minutes can't pass without someone crying, screaming, biting, fighting, yelling, etc. When you've got 2+ kids, "child abuse" becomes a very gray area ;)

And that has what to do with anything? Trolling for a response?

To settle the idiotic comment which is meaningless, yes, I had a child. He is now grown and will be 23 in a couple weeks.

I guess my old-fashioned way of being a parent is just different than how people are today. Children come first, in my opinion. Ignoring a child who needs a parent's assistance because of a video game is irresponsible parenting. No wonder society is so screwed up these days.

Hell, if I was nearing 1,000,000 on DK, I wouldn't stop even if I shit my own pants.

:D

It's been a while since I've seen it. But, if I remember correctly, that's just a fictitious movie based on real events. There was something in the extras part of the DVD that said that. There was some "freedoms" taken to make the movie more interesting.
