Anyone see this?

Just plain awesome. I'm wondering if it can interpret something other than the road though (cars, people, etc).

To me it would seem safer to have the monitor actually displaying the image from the cameras, with the road surface changed to match the game (and of course have the car in there too!)

That. Is. Awesome. Normally I'd be upset that they hacked up the cab, but c'mon, if you're gonna do it, might as well do something insanely cool like this! :)

I wonder if this guy is the same one that posted here (years ago) about wanting to do this exact same project? I specifically remember someone looking for an Outrun cabinet with this in mind.

The way I see it, if you're gonna build a virtual augmented reality system into a car, why not do it with some style?

This is obviously a work in progress though. They just keep showing footage of him driving while peeking around the side of the cabinet instead of doing a good demonstration of the system 'aiding' him.

Neat, but did anyone else notice him looking around the cabinet half the time? I don't see how it'd be "pleasing to your senses" to be looking your VR car going 150MPH while your RL car is going 5MPH. :) But neat nonetheless.

Damn. I saw the thread title and was hoping this was another Star Wars Chair thread.

*walks away disappointed, grumbling*

He's still rockin' the Member's Only jacket from the 80s though, so minus 5 points for that.....
