Anyone remember the first game they played/first they beat?

I've been reminiscing about the NES as I've been working on my playchoice. recently I've asked my brother and wife if they remembered the first game they played and the first game they beat. Neither of them could produce an answer. I thought it was odd as I have very fond memories of getting to play my very first game and the first time I ever beat a game.

My first game: Paperboy for the NES

I remember my dad bought a used NES off of someone for $100 and it came with paperboy. I remember it took me forever to get past the first day and I never did win the game until I used a game genie later on in life.

My first game I best: Rescue Rangers for the NES

I remember working on this game all summer when I was around 11 or 12. I was completely dumbfounded the first time I bested fat cat to complete the game. I spent the rest of that summer beating the game over and over again and starting to work on smb2.

Not sure about either, but I believe the first game I ever played was Atari's Stunt Cycle, at Pizza Hut when I was five years old. This was circa 1976-77.

First game I ever beat is a lot harder to say because when I was a kid video games weren't interactive movies that had endings. I'd have to say the Atari VCS version of Pac-Man, as sucky as it was, while playing at a friend's house, because I developed a pattern that I ran for about an hour without dying. I remember killing off my game at 103,000 points.

First game I beat that had an ending (by design)... probably Super Mario Bros. on the NES, I'd imagine. Before that most every video game was either time-based or it was high score-based and went on as long as you could survive.

The first video game I ever played was probably Super Mario Bros. on the NES though it wasn't the first game I beat.

I honestly don't remember the first game I ever beat. I think it was probably Kung-Fu on the NES. I also remember beating Duck Tales and Rescue Rangers over and over.

If we're talking arcade games, the earliest game I can remember playing is Trojan (1986) when I was maybe 4.

The first arcade game that I remember beating is Double Dragon (1987), though does it count if you're sort of tagging along as 2P with your older brother taking the lead as 1P? :)

First video game I played was a stand-alone Pong clone in about 1979 or 1980. As it was mostly two player, you didn't beat the game so the first game I beat was Raiders of the Lost Ark on Atari 2600. Yes, I am that old.

First video game played would have been either Pong or Computer space. I played EM games before that though, I can still recall quite a few of them I used to play with my Dad at the arcade.

first video game that I beat (that I can remember) would probably be Xenophobe.

Metroid for me. Followed closely by Kung Fu, then Rygar.

Games I still haven't beat:

Ghosts N Goblins
Rush N Attack

I know I played some tank battle game on Atari first. First game I beat was Contra on NES.

First game played would have been Pong because that's what there was.

Don't remember first game beat but it was something ColecoVision.

First arcade game would be Stunt Cycle & Sea Wolf at Rye Playland Ice Rink
First game to blow my mind was Atari RedBaron, also at playland
First console to beat was imagic's Atlantis. I won the special tough cartridge and a snorkel kit. Didn't make it into the final. Mom let me take the day off from school to compete and bought me a wico bat stick. The special cartridge is long gone.

The first ever game I played may have been Pac Man, Berzerk, Haunted House or Adventure
for the 2600.

Bad Dudes for the NES
Super Mario world for SNES
Wizard of Wor / Berzerk for the Arcade

The first game I ever beat
The Simpsons for the Arcade.
Super Ghouls N Ghosts for the SNES
Castlevania 2 for NES

I'd love to hear more about how the competition went. I think it's cool that companies did these special tournaments. I loved reading the story behind the Atari Swordquest competition.

I don't remember specifically what I played first, but it most likely 79-80 and was pac man, galaxian or something popular like that. My favorite was DK, dig dug, ms pac, popeye, galaga etc.

First game I beat would have to be a game that is beatable so a NES game. The first games I got were smb, rc pro am, megaman 2, and ninja gaiden. I know I beat mm2 before I beat ninja gaiden. I think zelda after ninja gaiden. It took me years to best smb, I beat smb2 and 3 first, I might have even beaten smw before it!

The first game I played was pong and the first game I beat was Adventure or maybee Treasure. I played them games on a sigma 5/7/9 computer at Telefile a computer company my dad worked for over nights. I have looked in vain for a copy of the Treasure game and still remember that to log into the game you had to type "treasure.:demo".

Actually the verry first game I played was tic tac toe. I was looking at the computer and my dad asked what was I doing. I told him I wanted to see the man that kept beating me. That was when he first opened a computer and I had seen all the ic chips.

I think the first game I beat was 'The Count' on the Vic-20. My brother is still pissed to this day that I figured it out first. I know I beat 'Bruce Lee' on the 64 as well.

We didn't have a NES but I had a Gameboy and remember finishing Tetris with the space shuttle ending a few times. Most of the games, like Super Mario, Gargoyles, Spider-man, etc. were relatively short and easy to beat.

As far as vids go, I think Golden Axe was one of my firsts. It wasn't that long.
