Anyone remember people making a big deal about certain games being satanic?

I remember back in the NES days I had friends and cousins who weren't allowed to play games like Ghosts n' Goblins, Castlevania, and other games that might have demons, devils, and spirits in them.
It was as if the games themselves were possessed and any game that had such characters were forbidden to be in their possession. Really all it did was make the kids want to play it even more, and raise their curiosity.
Anyone else remember this? And what were some of the other games that really pushed the envelope with religious symbols and demonic references and charachters?

My friends mom would not let him play magic cards becuase she was convinced they were satanic. Some people are just crazy.

I remember mortal kombat being a big thing. My parents didn't care but I had friends that weren't allowed to play untill they were old enough. It was funny.

My best friend's mom would not let him play Ninja Gaiden because she thought it was satanic.I'm sure GnG would've made the list too,but we never played that game at his house as far as I can remember.

My parents didn't care since they saw cartoons like Loony Toons as more violent and (in some cases) more demonic than the games I played as a kid. How was fighting demons worse than killing goombas and turtles?

I had a friend growing up who refused to listen to any music that wasn't explicitly 'christian' because it didn't glorify god. But he'd play Mortal Kombat at the arcade because "that wasn't real"

Castlevania was the 2nd NES game we bought... no Satanic concerns in my house.

I had a similar thing happen with a kid I made friends with in 8th grade. He told me his parents wouldn't let him listen to Megadeth because it was secular. Now he doesn't listen to christian music at all and he's my best friend.

I remember going to Best Buy with my Mom one day, we found a copy of "Taboo - the 6th Sense" on NES pretty cheap, so we bought it. The next day she took it back after reading the manual and discovering it was based on the acult, well DUH.

This is not arcade related but it reminded me of high school when we actually had a Dungeons and Dragons club and this fat bitch who headed up the morning prayer group in the lunch room convinced the administration it was satanic and there went the end of our club.

My parents were pretty strict when I was a kid. There were plenty of music groups I couldn't listen to, and TV shows I couldn't watch. Video games, they were all hand me downs, so they were pretty much pre-screened.

I had friends that couldn't watch Aladdin... or anything past a G rating.

but, Dungeons and Dragons was always a hot one. They hated it

I pretty much watched and played whatever I wanted growing up. But I do remember one time at a friends house we were playing Monster Party on NES and his mom was watching us. One of the boss characters said something about Hell, as soon as that happened she shut off the NES. I didn't know what the hell was going on. Another time I left my playing cards at another friends house, his dad found them, well, I never saw them again.

For anyone out there that has Wario Ware Touched for DS, if you use the little turn table on the game and play Ashlee's song, spin the record backwards pretty fast and it sounds like she is saying somthing about sending kids to hell. CRAZY!!!! :O
