Anyone remember or have pics from the New River Valley Mall arcade?

Up near Christiansburg VA... used to game there a LOT, not as much as other places but significant to me because it's the first place I saw a game FOR SALE and that sort of planted the bug... ;)

Dropped many a quarter in Golden Axe there in I think 1989 or 1990 while I went to VT.. There used to be an Arcade on Blacksburg on the corner where I think its Sharkeys now..

I used to work in the mall in the late 80's at the Original Cookie shop (I was a student at Tech at the time). I used to go into that arcade all the time -- mainly played Blasteroids. But, the other reply mentioned the arcade in Blacksburg, which is really where I spent my time and money. When I first started at Tech there was an Alladin's Castle on main (in 1984). They had a sit down Williams Star Rider and a Mystic Marathon, which I thought was pretty cool. They closed after a year or so. However, Arnolds, which was a sub shop across the street, opened an arcade and I spent most of my off time from school in there. That is where I fell in love with Bubble Bobble. I remember the thrill of when I solved the "language" in the bonus rooms and tried the secret code for the first time. When the screen changed to "Super Bubble Bobble" I just about fell over. Good memories. Arnolds also had a contest one year and gave away a very nice Nishiki Back Road mountain (well, hybrid) bike. And I won! The best thing I ever won playing video games. The other time I won anything I won some stuff when the Corcoran Gallery of Art in downtown DC had an "Art-cade" fund raiser back in 82, I think it was. I would love to find some photos from that event. There was even a story on the news about it -- would love to find that again.

Sorry for the rambling -- lots of good memories for me. :)

Did either of these locations have a Virtual On machine? I'm not sure which I'm thinking of now, haha :D

You know, I don't recall seeing one of these -- but I believe that game came out in the early 90s -- I had left by that time (I graduated and returned to Northern VA in 89).

Another memory -- another arcade in Blacksburg used to have an I ROBOT. Seemed a fair share of rare games made their way through Blacksburg. :)

I remember playing that one! :) Awesome. There's literally no good places with arcade games up that way now :(
