I'd like to stop writing labels and start using my printer. Does anyone have any recommendations or templates already set up for printing eprom labels? Otherwise I can just pick up a random Avery Label that fits and used that.

I use one of these, but just for text.

Most people doing small scale stuff just use the Avery labels. They are generally sufficiently light-proof for normal use.

If you can't find an Avery label that fits, I'd suggest getting the Avery full-sheet stickers, print and cut yourself.

I use avery 8167 and use MS word template to print them. On ones I use alot of (pac stuff) I save the template for later use. You can use custom fonts and images to spice them up a bit.

I have both a manual brother p-touch and the USB computer connected one. I got the high-end one with automatic cutter on a clearance table but right now Office max has the manual cutter version on sale for $20 - a real deal:

A real plus is the software that comes along with it. You actually see what is printed and what the label size will be. I create labels or label sets and can bring up the file and print again - very quick and easy. It also avoids a lot of the waste that you get with the manual labellers so you get more labels per cartridge. I buy the cartridges in bulk on ebay.

The labels are opaque and you can print 2 lines of characters.

Best,

Bill

Thanks for the suggestions. Looks like I'll go with Avery 5267 which appears to be the same version as Riptor's except the 5267 is for laser printers. Not sure I really need the opaque labels atm.

Put a piece of electrical tape down then put the label on it.

Use aluminum tape of the kind used on air duct work (not "duct tape"!) to protect the data windows then print up labels of any kind to go over them, the tape's expensive (like $8) but one roll will be enough for a couple million EPROMS and unlike most tape is designed not to fall off when it gets old. FYI Home Depot and most hardware stores have it in the duct work sections.
