Just wondering if anyone had a chance to play one of these? I stopped by a local retailer and he let me play a few games on one he had. Not a bad pin from what I could tell. May have been worthy on a high volume production scale. He said there were only 150 or so made? This one was#108.

I have played one in a local guy's personal collection. While I didn't find it to be a bad machine I wasn't really impressed by it either. I would personally rank it with Pinball Magic or Attack From Mars in replay value.

I've played it and thought it was fun, but not $10k plus fun. It did have a very low production number, but then I believe Gene Cunningham of Illinois Pinball did another small run with all the parts he had on hand from the buyout.

See IPDB for more of the story, google for the rest - http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=5244.

Capcom did 14 units, Gene did the rest. This game has high collector appeal because it was pretty much the last thing finished (but not produced) by Capcom, and that made it sort of legendary among some people. I see one or two pop up on ebay from time to time (along with a good amount of ephemera - key chains and the like), but everything I see is almost always sky-high, and very little of it sells. I think the last time I saw the machine on Ebay it was $16K, and didn't go.

I have played both the original and remake (IPB). I liked the game alot.

I will never forget in 1996 when Capcom rolled out 8 or so of these at the Pinball Expo. I along with a lot of other folks played these for hours and I am not exaggerating. Could not get enough of it. And sadly I did not get the remake because I
HONESTLY did not think Gene could do it. Wrong!!

You were not alone - I was watching the whole thing from the sidelines (I didn't know about it until far too late), but a LOT of people didn't think Gene could do it. I have to say that I'm very impressed that he did - and I'm hoping to play one of these someday!

No game is worth $16K let alone $7K. I've never played BBB but I can assure you I'd much rather have 4-5 pins VS having one pin. Don't get me wrong Gene had to make money and for such a small run it justifies the high cost without question. I had heard he actually lost money on BBB ... tru or not I dunno.

Yea, but Gene didn't charge $16K - he was charging 5 or 7 (I forget). If he hadn't run into SO MANY problems with suppliers and parts, he'd have made a profit, but as it was I believe he lost a bit on the deal.

I can't say that I'd pay $16 for any pin either, because for that I could get 3 brand new Sterns!

There is a local pool hall here in MN that has one of the 16 originals on location...yes, I said on location!! He charges a buck a play which is justified I guess, he knows what he has still kind of weird to see it out on the floor. The place is called SS Billiards if any of you are ever in the neighborhood (will ad a link in my sig soon) I like the game, it actually has a little more to the rule set than you would think. I still have not got the final big bang mode but I have witnessed it once and it was a cool little finish. As for being worth 16k, well, that is obviously due to rarity and rarity alone. If it had a run of 1000+ I would be it would still fetch $2500+, it is definetily one of the best Capcoms I have played but I have never played Magic or Airborne so I can't say it's THE best. In response to someone who said it is equal to AfM..I don't know, I think Mars is better, just my opinion though. All and all I am glad that I have had the chance to play this game at will and hope he keeps it around for a while.

$4500.00 is what I heard.

Big Bang Bar is RAD and I wish I had one. The whole thing went down before I was deep into the pin scene...I wish I could have ordered one in retrospect...no way I can justify its current price. It's a beautiful game, it's tons of fun, has great sound and DMD animation. The blacklight FX, pulsing arrows on the ramps, and the tube dancer are awesome. I wish Gene would make some more...the demand is still there.

I am lucky enough to know TWO collectors near my home that own BBB's (Cunninghams), so I've got my fair share of play time on it. It is a very beautiful game and I would think it's Capcom's best title. The audio is also great, aside from the annoying 'joyzee girl' waitress that repeats lines a few too many times. The illuminated ramp is cool and the pole dancer rocks! It's a good solid game, but I don't fully understand why it commands the prices it does today. I've never played more than a few games in a row on it before moving on to something else. There are other good 'rare' dmd titles that aren't worth 1/10th what a BBB is worth.

Yes, I have played the original run BBB at SS Billiards in Hopkins, MN. It isn't a bad game, nothing spectacular. Only reason it costs so much is the limited run. My favorite feature is the blue lights under the ramp, that looks really sharp.
