I'm heading out in a few minutes to the mid-night release at my local Gamestop. I played the original SC, tons of Warcraft 3, and was pretty active in the SC2 beta. As PC games go, especially rts, nothing beats Blizzard; they've really done a great job with this one. I'm looking forward to an all nighter playing 1v1s.

...maybe I'll sneak a game of 720 into the mix.

my brothers kids have been playing the beta. I would be out there buying it, but I am too busy this week. Maybe I will get it next week.. I am a little pissed I could have bought it for $49 on amazon and all of a sudden they jacked up the price another $10...

i played the original and loved it. Best multiplayer game ever. Played warcraft too but when the newer version came out, there was so much going on you could hardly tell what's happening. I hope SC2 isnt like that. I also wonder if my computer can handle it.

System reqs on PC are pretty reasonable - Minimum nVidia 6600/Radeon 9800 or better and 2.6GHz CPU 1GB RAM. Recommended 2.4GHz dual core 2GB RAM and nVidia 8800GTX/ATI HD 3870. Any PC from the last three years should run it fine.

A friend of mine at work bought it, he says it's great.

I will likely get the game eventually, but I am really disappointed that there's no LAN support and only a Terran campaign in the box. I had the most fun with the first one playing offline with my buddies. Zerg and Protoss capaigns will be expansions, and you can be guaranteed the expansions will each add a couple of units to the tech trees, which will mean you'll be pretty much forced to buying them to join the ladder games.

Not offering LAN play is a real kick in the teeth, it is an obvious ploy to stop people pirating the game, and tying players to Battle.net.

I was a big RTS fan growing up (C&C, Warcraft, etc), but never really got mush into Starcraft - not sure why. I think I was pretty over RTS at that point, so I just didn't care too much.

As for this one, I don't have the time to find out if enjoy it, these days :(

It really is an incredible game. I've played a ton the last couple days.

They've done a great job with the single player campaign, and have added the ability to play custom 1v1 / 2v2 / etc...against A.I. of adjustable skill. There are also custom tactical challenges, where you're given specific units and must devise the exact counters to incoming enemies.

There are definitely some changes from prior Blizzard RTS games. Yes...just about everything is now tied to Battle.net. If you want to play with your buddies, you create an arranged team game over BNET, and can then play agains the A.I., or other teams.

The biggest...funniest thing...is that when you first log in, it tells you to create a character. This name will be tied to your CD key. It's your multiplayer ID, forum posting name, and the account that all acheivements and single player progress is tracked under. It's a one time shot and is not changeable. I simply chose "Jeff" which I'm fine with, but so many people are complaining that they thought they'd be able to change it. There are tons of permanent accounts named: "Test123", "asdfjkl;", Practice1, etc...

I am in love with this.
The game is 100% polished.
Every multiplayer game takes me away deep into the game.
Very radiant & elegant programing. Never been this excited about a pc game since quake 2. :)

Cant stop playing. rising up the ladder on battlenet.
picked up the collectors edition and i was lucky enough to score the collectors guide for $20 shipped. they were on amazon for like 1 hour lol and now all gone.. people trying to sell them for $100 new.

Ranking high in the silver league...
Beat a platinum player tonight
Is anyone else finding themselves playing 1v1 or on battlenet?

I've found that I am horrible at this game. I used to be real good at the first one. I remember I stopped playing on b.net because I went like 30-0 at one point. I'm still trying to get the hang of this.

Anyone know why you can't make Medics or Goliaths in the multiplayer? Its annoying, I keep trying to use my build order from bitd but I need to adopt it for the new units.

so whats up anything new?

I might pick this up, although the last RTS I played was warcraft 3. and im horrible at it LOL. worth the pick up? hard to learn after never playing the first?

It is easy to learn. There is a tutorial type thing and the early levels tell you what you need to do. I haven't played it in a while. After I beat the single player, I stopped playing really. I still have it installed, but the multiplayer is what the game is all about. All my friends are off playing other games now, and I need some sense of community in order to play multiplayer games.

I've played starcraft for most of my life. I suck at it, but if anyone wants to add me my user is zzaz3.
