Anyone planning a Halloween arcade party this year?

The wife and I decided to plan another Halloween party this year. Last's year's party was pretty crazy with kids walking up to the door and taking candy, but as soon as they seen the garage open and the arcade they dropped all their candy on the driveway and sidewalk and ran inside to play the games along with parents running inside to play the games themselves, only problem was I didn't want the kid's cracking their heads open, trippin on something and landing on a game and a lawsuit later, so we decided to do an adult dress party instead and keep it safe without the crazy kids. Anyone here as well planning a party or have a crazy past Halloween story

A halloween party would be a great idea. Just, I don't get how to tie the games in with the occasion.
Perhaps deck out the game room like a haunted house?

Who cares. It's the games, the games that count! :D

I was thinking about it. It's my birthday, so I was going to do an arcade/birthday party... which happens to fall on Halloween...

Buuuut... I don't have enough machines running right now to make it fun for everyone.

Sorry, I didn't include the details, but yes I decked the house up to look like a haunted house and turned the gameroom into that theme with a fog machine and blacklights. The effect looked really cool!

We are not having a Halloween party, but we are having a Halloween eve party. The backyard shackade will be open, there will be a fire in the firepit, and hopefully the pool will still be warm enough for someone (not me) to want to swim. Anyone that is in the area, let me know if you want to come by.

Oooh, Must see pictures of the party! :D

My Pac-Man will be making a one night special guest appearance at a haunted maze. One of the guys I work with puts up a maze in his backyard every year. Last year, I had my Ms. Pac upright and Super Pac cocktail there. This year's maze is going to be a 3 night deal but I don't like the idea of leaving my games in the guy's shed so its only going to be one night. Last year the games were there for one night (about 6 hours) and earned a combined total of $9.25. (Admission to the maze was two cans of food, so I donated the money to the food bank.) This time, its going to be free play. The game should get more attention that way. Almost 1000 people (town of about 30,000) came to the maze last year. Many of them commented on how they hadn't seen those games in a long time. Little kids took interest as well. Nobody expected to see arcade games at a Halloween maze but Pac games seem to fit right in, what with ghosts and mazes.

We are having our 3rd annual Halloween arcade party. It gets bigger each year... and I love putting it on. Fellow KLOVer Dokert always did an awesome Halloween set up. Sadly, he moved and won't be doing it this year. I will miss it for sure!! :hail: Pics of our party:

10,000 people game and the games only earned $9.25? That shows just how dead classic videogaming is. Holy shit. Are game operators the last village idiots? Great title for a news article. Especially those who replace their pinball glass with non-tempered glass.

BTW, Halloween parties are great, the problem is that there are SO MANY. It's best to throw it the weekend before. There's just too much competition for parties on Halloween weekend.

It was 1,000 not 10,000. The games were only there for one of the two nights due to rain all day on the first day. Nobody knew to bring change as they did not know the games would be there. I had change available, though not much was used. This year its going to be just for the fun of whoever wants to play, that's why the Pac will be on free play. I thought about bringing all 3 of my Pac series games but lugging two around last year was bad enough (25 mile drive).

Looks like I'll be hosting an after the in-town Trick or Treat game party for some friends. Originally my wife said she would like to ask some folks over after the T-or-T that is in town at the local businesses...I said ok. Then last weekend it came out who all she had told about it. I said - hell, did you invite the entire town!?

Anyway, should be fun. We set up a haunted garage deal last year complete with some video games since Halloween was on a Saturday and that was alot of fun. This should be ok too... I'll be guarding my new Revenge From Mars pinball though from the real little ones...

;^)

Shame the games arn't set up in the garage.. It would be great to have a haunted-cade party!

Hope everyone doing one has a great time! :wizard:
Well except for that guy.. :D ------->

I'm all ready for my party Friday night. Finished putting the decorations up tonight and bagging up candy. I'm hoping for at least 100 kids if not more. I've advertised more this year, so I hope I get a bigger turnout. Crossing fingers and praying the games hold out for the party.

I've posted already, but I can't wait to open up the garage/arcade and let the kiddies (and parents) have a blast from the past. I kid you not when I say I get hundred of happy "customers" each year, young and old(er) :D .

Kind of sad that these days one has to worry about frivolous lawsuits when all you want to do is have a party and provide some fun for your neighbors...

I would love to open up my garage and let kids play - but my basement sucks to hall games in and out of so that's just not an option because I'm lazy.

However, my wife and I have an adult Halloween costume party every year.
We send out evites and and take RSVP's. So far we're looking at 34 people tomorrow. 34 people doesn't sound like much but when you factor in a 2200 sq ft home and eliminating the bedroom sq footage it gets cramped real quick.

The living room will have what ever flavor of guitar hero or rockband on the xbox360, the kitchen will be wall to wall food and drink, the basement hosts my games and pins and the garage is setup for beer pong tournaments.

A little bit of something for everyone.

The only Halloween and arcade story I have was from a few years ago. I was at a friend's party and he had a few games there (including a 48 in 1 that I built for him). His stuff definitely got some play and I was kind of the on call tech in case they stopped working. When I left the party I realized I had some missed phone calls from home on my cell. The washer had somehow leaked and water managed to get into the cold air return and into the basement. My Red Baron cockpit, 6 player X-Men, and Cruis'n USA all got water on them. :( Luckily they all still worked and I did my best to try them out.
