Just wondering if anyone has played or is the owner of this 125 - in - 1 machine.

I have been in the market for a Defender machine for some time now but could never find one in my price range that was in the shape I desired. So, I looked in getting a 19-in-1 horizontal jamma board that has all of the Williams games on it. No, luck there, so I decided I should get myself a Williams-Multicade.

I asked a local dealer if he could get me one, and he suggested the Arcade Legends 2 machine. Well, it has everything that I could possibly be looking for and more since I was going to try and hunt down a Berzerk machine as my 'after I get a Defender' project.

Anyway, the price tag is pretty high, so I'm wondering if there are any owners of this machine out there who can offer some advice.

Thanks.

What about the jrok multi williams board. It's jamma and is the best multi williams out there. BTW jrok is a member here.

I have played one at Costco. The set up is pretty good. All the needed controls are there and it is a well built cabinet with a large monitor. The game selection is very good and also upgradeable which is nice.....BUT.....yeah the price tag is a bit steep....in hindsight I wish I had bought one at Costco the 2nd time I saw it when the price was $800 less.

There's enough commercially available multis at this point that I'm starting to get confused.

Is this the one you can find in SkyMall or Brookstone magazines?

My buddy has that game and the setup is s hitty for defender.
It is a cool machine and I like playing other games on it.

what is no good about it's defender? To be honest, that is what is the biggest selling point for me!

I own the 60 - in -1 jamma board with Galaga, Pac-Man, Donkey Kong and the like. I also own an authentic Pac-Man machine. As far as I was concerned, I though the 60 - in - 1 jamma boards played pretty good and really resembled their non-jamma counterparts.

Can you be more specific about the Defender on the Arcade Legends 2 machine please?

since you want defender the jrok board is the way to go. It's a jamma board with a number of great williams games running on the correct hardware not emulated like pretty much everything else on the market. All else you would need is a jamma cab with a horizontally mounted monitor. Can't remember the cost of the jrok board off hand but I'm thinking the cost of the board and a jamma cab would run you less than $800 total.

There's got to be a better way man. That cabinet is pretty nasty looking, Defender is hard to enjoy with out the original controls. The artwork keeps haunting me. Don't get me wrong I've seen a lot worse but man that needs a refresh.

Thanks for all your suggestions so far - are there any people who have this game on their wishlist?

Are there any people who do like it and swear by it?

It's got a decent frontend program and I like it for some of the less popular titles. I'll sit there quite a while and play Penguin Wars...

BTW - just picked it up. Sitting here in the shop. I'll fix the monitor next week...

This is the bad boy I'm talking about -

$800 at Costco? When and where? I can't find one of these for under $2200 right now!!

He didn't say it was $800 at Costco; he said it was $800 less. So if the normal price was $2700, then he saw one for $1900.

In any event, let me see if I've got this straight: you're thinking of buying a machine that according to your findings costs $2200 at the very least, but you also said:

You could get an original Defender in excellent condition shipped to your door for less than $2200, and still have enough left over for Jrok's Multi-Williams board, and then some.

I'm with you...Just go buy Defender for less than half of what the Arcade Legends costs or find a multi-board and an empty cab somewhere.

I'd rather have a ratty ass MAME machine (and I hate mame) than have one of those arcade legends cabs. At least with a mame cabinet you could make it look like something of the era. The cabinet doesn't look anything like the machines from that era of games. It's tacky. These companies need to hire some real graphic designers for this shit - what they're charging is highway robbery no matter how you look at it.

How much are you looking to spend? You could buy a dedicated Defender and a Berzerk for less than half the price of the machine you are looking at.

You are all correct - Defender and Berzerk are what I'm after, but when I saw the 125 games on the AL2 machine that had both of them and Zoo Keeper, Lock n' Chase, Puzzle Bobble, Ghosts n' Goblins, Joust, Moon Patrol, Jungle Hunt and more and more, I started thinking quantity over quality.

When the person responded with his post that a 25 Inch monitor is just too big for Defender, this is when I started thinking about it. Plus, you're right about the look of the machine - it looks nothing like what you'd see in a 1980's arcade.

I do think I'll get the jrok board and hunt down an horizontal jamma machine. I bet I'd be happier in the long run, and Berzerk will just have to wait for now...

just another option for you is the arcadeshop multi board. it has defender, stargate, berzerk, and frenzy on it. if you have limited space it is n option but not cheap
