Anyone own a Drill-O-Matic that can check something for me?

I am diging through some old parts and found some drive belts I believe are for Drill-O-Matics but I cant remember and I no longer have any to check.

Can anyone who owns one of these check the three belts and tell me the numbers printed on them and what action they operate?

I'd greatly appreciate it.

We just so happen to have one at work, I can look and tell you.

While we're on the topic, ours has a weird problem that I can't figure out; I've pretty much given up. About one in every five plays the X-motor stalls on the return, leaving the arm assembly hanging out in the middle of the machine (meanwhile the mainboard believes the arm successfully returned to the home position, so over time the arm just keeps hiking up and up and up until it's finally stuck at the top). I've tried shuffling around the stepper controllers to no avail; I was going to try moving the motors themselves around, then I got distracted and never revisited it. It's right now sitting in the corner, unplugged and partially torn apart. (FWIW, it never did work right).

I apprecieate you checking on this for me.

I had that happen a couple of times on the up / down motion and once on the front / back motion.

From my memory (it's been a while):

The belt for the up / down movement may have jumped position on the gear causing the counter-weight to be off. The limit sensor could be faulty as well. Also, the cheap plastic guide busings could be bad that ride the rail or the rail could be out of square. These motors do not have a lot of tourque.

The other thing I recall about these units is that the power supply will go funky causing intermintent problems. I believe that this unit has a power resistior tied in on the outside of the power supply mounted by the fan.

Now I remeber how much of a piece of crap these things were.

X is 672XL - First number is hard to read. It's right at the clamp. Pretty sure it's a 6.

Y is a 188XL and a 628XL

Z is a 188XL and 2 x 380XL

you guys deal with redemption games regularly? I'm the tech in my family's arcade, was just wondering in case I ever run into any major snags.

likewise, I'll try to assist you guys if you ever have questions about items we have.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I have the 672XL & the 380XL.
Anyone know what game uses the 828XL?

Thanks,
Leo

I do not deal with ticket redemption much anymore. I mainly deal with Skill Cranes, Kiddie Rides, Skill Merchandisers & video (although video keeps dropping off).

Does your family arcade have any of those Big Bass Wheels? If so, have you run into any problems with them yet? I had one that the solenoid fell apart on.

I'm the primary tech for a gameroom of 73 seats, 80% redemption. If you have a redemption-specific question I can probably help you.

As for BBW (what an unfortunate acronym, hah), I've had the drive motor die on me once, that's it. Bay-Tek is definitely the most represented manufacturer in our gameroom, and compared to the other machines, they're significantly more reliable.

no Big Bass Wheel here, do those still make "stupid money" as our salesman at Betson would so eloquently put it? I'd say ICE's stuff is represented most here, with Skee Ball (blargh) second, we have Caveman Clobber and Lite Em Up and those games are overall solid, I'd really like to replace our skee alleys with Fireball. ICE's stuff is pretty decent, only major quandary I had was the power module failed on our Wheel of Fortune (the skill game, not the pusher) and the computer we received in our Deal Or No Deal had to be replaced under warranty, I suspect it may have been bad ram cause it would skip or reset.

we operate outdoors too, and it just so happened that the last couple years it needed some attention, so we really haven't spent much in the way of games like we probably should have, but we have probably about 75 items now. huge amount of video though, though that's probably my fault cause my personal collection is in that mix. :)

Any of you redemption regulars have a Drill-O-Matic manual you could scan for me ?
Benchmark doesn't have it available online.

I help a small place out from time to time that I used to work at years ago that has one that needs it's settings totally reconfigured. (a 50 ticket hole wants to spit out a gagillion tickets, etc, etc)

I have a manual on the desk next to me. But my scanner is broken. Here are a few pictures of the setup pages.

Thanks to the both of you...
slots - Those pictures will definitely get me started since everything is so out of whack.
coinopdirect - PM sent

Off hand is there a way to "clear" any pending payouts ?
Right now it's stuck in a pending payout frenzy and I'd like to just clear it so it would quit wanting to payout. It's done it several times before (due to the high payout settings) and have had to take a strip of tickets and run them through forever to get it to stop. Got to be a better way, otherwise this thing wants to unload a brick of tickets in a heartbeat.

I took a quick look at the manual before I sent it and it does not appear to have an option to clear the pending ticket payout. There are 2 general data reset options but I believe they will wipe out the game settings.

Well, wiping out the game settings won't be such a bad thing at this point since it seems everything needs setup again anyways.
I'll go through the manual and dig into it and see what we can do for it.

To clear the payout try turning it off and holding the start button and turn it back on while holding in the button.

Which leads me to my question, have you had any problems with your Drill O matic emptying all of it's tickets? Mine does it every couple of months. I suspect that a kid has figured out a way to make it happen.
