I was looking on www.8liners.com and seems like they have really good prices on complete new monitor chassis. I was going to pick one up for my 25 inch monitor in my die hard since the blue is gone, looks like there one for 25" monitors will fit any tube so this should work for my die hard. Anyone have good luck with them , is there any place cheaper to order new monitor chassis from

Check with www.alvaamusement.com to compare.

I haven't ordered from either, but when I checked it seemed Alva was cheaper. There are a couple threads in the Monitor forum about the universal chassis suppliers.

I ordered one and was pleased with the results. I replaced a Polo Hanterex chassis. The only problem I had was that the vertical would stretch sometimes when warming up, but then worked normally. May very well have been my tube being old....

I've bought two chassis for 19" tubes from AlvaAmusement after comparing prices and finding they were cheaper than 8liners for the same product. Both worked just fine...

Any ideas on pricing, since I didn't see prices on their site, especially compared to 8liners?

You've probably got a U2000 in your die hard, if the blue's missing it's probably because the blue transistor on the neckboard has broken solder joints on it. Very, very, very typical on that monitor. It'd be just as easy to fix that then to remove the entire board and splice in another one... you don't even have to take the neckboard off to fix it. Of course it may be something worse, but might be worth at least looking into.

The neck board is trashed, so many burnt traces and I tried to repair them and no luck on the blue yet, just would be good to replace everything so i dont haft to worry about a cap kit and such and do away with all those burnt traces

I hear ya. One other thing to check out though, make sure your cabinet has an Isolation transformer in it. I learned that the hard way!

By the way, quick trivia question... did everybody know that if you plug a monitor that needs an Isolation Transformer into a cabinet with NO isolation transformer, that not only the monitor but also the Videogame PCB catches on fire?

lol

looks like its built in the power supply, that die hard cab has the big power supply

Cool. I had a KI2 and that power block in the bottom didn't have the transformer. When you plug one in like that, it sends the a/c voltage down the video ground wire to the game's pcb , everything starts smoking and popping, it's really quite a sight to see.

As far as AlvaAmusements pcb's, I've used them before, they look great. Don't expect perfect, and you'll be pleasantly surprised. The only issues I had with them was that sometimes they'd have the pincushion effect going on, but they have one with the pincushion adjustment for that.
