Anyone on here get the Black Widow from The Station on EBAY

When there is a "Best Offer" option available, it's there for a reason. I'm not sure why everyone thinks when someone asks $1000 for a $300 game with a Best Offer option they think the guy is asking $1000 still.

In all of my experiences with the big local retailers, if your offer isn't within a couple hundred dollars of the BIN, then a deal isn't going to happen. Which is fine, but its taught me that with these particular retailers, trying to pursue a deal with them is just a waste of everyone's time.

It helps us out that they're local to us. Only about 150 miles away or so... and most days, some of us have NOTHING better to do than take a little road trip.

This one was sold as "un-tested"... as to how you can not test and entire cabinet?... I have no idea. So, I know it's not working, that's given. They big thing was we asked if it was complete... if it's complete, then it's fixable in my book.

But, if we get there and it's missing anything from a switch to a power supply... We're probably just walking away. We've emailed them, called them, etc etc... the assured us it's complete... that's my main concern. I usually don't dig through machines too much before I pick them up... but this is one of the rare instances that I'm going to almost literally tear the thing down at the location and go through it piece by piece.

$250 is still a great deal... hell, the monitor is worth that... not that I'd ever want to part it out... but I'm not so attached to this game that I'd take a pile of shit in a fancy "Black Widow" package.

I'm already in this for U-Haul rental, gas, etc etc... so if it's not %100 complete, I'm fine with cutting any losses and walking away. Hopefully they're fully aware that we're local enough to be picky about this. If they're not, they will be when I show up with a complete tool kit ready to do some looking. Also goes without saying that if they not willing to let me dig then, hopefully, we'll be walking.

I can't speak for Rob or DreamTR, but I was kinda pushing them to get this... and hopefully if I push to NOT get it, they'll understand that and I'll probably be working for free for quite a few days to pay off the gas and truck and all that crap. We're showing up cash in hand, no pay-pal crap, no nothing... so the most they can do is, well... we're the buyer on eBay, so... they can't really do anything about it.

So, I guess summing it up... yeah, we're a little leary, but I guess willing to take a shot at it. We'll be leaving balls-early tomorrow to head over there, and I'll report back about the machine when we get back... either we'll have it, and it'll work (not likely), we'll have it and it won't work (more likely), or we'll just tell them to shove it and come back pissed off (hoepfully not).

Expect the worst; that way you won't be disappointed. :(

Oh, I'll be disappointed if we can't get it... I've been wanting a Black Window for a good while now. I mean... come on. Love Robotron? Check... Love vectors? Check... plus Atari side art was friggin' sweet back then... I REALLY want that f'ng machine. But not -THAT- machine, I just want the game... I'm not attached to that particular machine. I'm more than capable of walking away from it. I've passed on machines that I've wanted more than BW before (Williams EM gun game for example), and I passed it up without a second thought. So, if there are any shenanigans, fuck it... I can still get home in time to work on other projects.

I bought my demo derby from them, All in all seem to be pretty nice guys this was several years ago. The down sides it took weeks to get the pictures I requested,As Edward and Brent could speak for it took a lot of work and another complete board set to get my cars the right colors. Someone swapped the video board with another mcr 3 video board and various other related chip problems of course sold 100% working if you know what I mean. After years off searching and countless hours of working its is finally working right.

For the guy who asked about the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Black-Widow-Arc...tem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item58847668ff

Originally this game was 900 and occasionally on sale for 800. Then it goes for 250. Hell, I was ready to offer 450 when I got the money together assuming it was working and didn't have water damage. If I knew they would have taken 250 I'd have been all over it like white on rice in a snowstorm. So did SCUCI get it"

Oh yeah,
And the main reason not to buy from the station is their piss poor ebay rating. I mean 90%. You have to screw up hard and often to get a rating that bad.

And with only 158 transactions, that especially doesn't inspire much confidence.

There are plenty of reasons, believe me.

I'm surprised it's that low; they must have scaled back their ebay sales quite a bit because they were probably around 70-75 when I bought the spy hunter game from them 3 years ago.

Also, Ive been to "the station" warehouse, its literally a big building full of mostly non-working games in many pieces and various states. The guy that took me through the place basically said what they do, is sell a game online, then pretty much piece it together with the multiple non working games they have. I also noticed they literally have like twenty something Revolution-X games, so if your in the market for one of those...lol Anyways, their prices were outrageous on some stuff. I asked about a pole position cockpit, and the guy wanted like 1100 for it, and it was missing back window, and non-working. I brought that up, and he said, yeah, our guys can piece one together for you though...Long story short, I've just avoided them myself due to what I saw, but Id say just like Scucci, if the right deal came along, Id snatch it up. I just would go too far out of my way to do so..

That's great that you got DD working 100%.
So, do you want to sell it? :)

That would fit with my experience with the exception that they didn't know what they were doing enough to produce something that actually worked the right way.

If they sold their stuff as semi-working and at semi-working prices that would be a different story. At least you know what you're getting then.

Yeah, they still run routes, so from what I can tell, its the stuff they pull off routes non-working that they try to pass off for ungodly amounts of cash for the most part..

Yep. I exclude Dale and The Station from my searches, as I know I can never afford what they're selling.

From the search bar, click on Advanced Search
4th Area down is called Sellers
2nd Radio Button has a drop down
Select Exclude from drop down
Type in sellers name

Great! Thanks Fat.

The "rating" is only based on a year. Their rating is 90.5% based on 21 transactions. That's it. Not the full 150+.

ALkaline Jay, I sent a PM about VON, we're going to The Station tomorrow. I doubt we will buy anything other than Black Widow, but you never know.

I was looking at thier machines last week. The ones I saw were listed at $1500-3500, and the description says machine not in working condition and machine similar to one in picture, Im not even going to make an offer. Course, if I lived within traveling distance and went over to bargain in person, its a different story

Exactly!! If someone asks for $400, and I think it's worth $300, i'll offer $300. But if they're asking $1000, I'll just walk away.

And if they're asking $1000, have a reputation for being slow, not communicating and shipping broken things, I'll run away.

Which is too bad, because I'd like a Gorf cabaret someday.
