Anyone Love Scramble????

Yeah a HS save would be nice... :(

I wonder, is it a reasonable thing to ask about, but there hasn't been demand, or is it not reasonable for technical reasons?

I'd order a HS kit today and I still don't have a cabinet :)

I just got back 200 mile round trip for a nice working Scramble. Sound did not work, but found that it was a bad speaker. I have been playing for about an hour. Nice machine plays and looks great. But its hard as hell!!!

I think its pretty cool. Just wondering what everyone else thinks of Scramble. Like it? Dont Like it?

Any tricks or tips?

I will post pics soon:)

You need so much help, my friend...

Oh yea...

I'd like to add that the warning/alert/low-fuel sounds from Scramble are one of those indelible "arcade sounds" that I remember from BITD.

I would order one for sure, it would be a lot better than adding 99 credits before each Gaming party, ha!

Scramble ROCKS! I had a complete scramble setup, cab (needed to be painted/stenciled) a really nice clean bezel, new repro panel... the whole thing...

Never got to it... sold it as a project... still kind of regret it.

There is something really fun about Scramble game play, the animation is clean, the sounds are cool... its real fun strafing the rockets with your laser cannon along the level ground!

Its the game I used to hit up down at my local convenience store when I was a punk.

I took it down a while back... There are other vids on YT. Mostly MAME...

Curious which version ya got, DJW... Konami or Stern? I can give you some tips when I know;)

Ways to ID versions:

Konami: Slow fuel consumption version; In attract mode, You'll see the 'Konami' on the bottom of the screen; Boardset has a black box central or main processing unit wired to it.

Stern: Fast fuel consumption version; In attract mode, you'll see the 'Stern' on the bottom of the screen; Boardset has NO blackbox included.

Yes, I luv 'Poor Man's Defender':D. Looking for a KONAMI version to try for a WR one of these days... maybe:eek:

I was also wondering which version they had up at Seattle...

Not sure, I will go out and look at the Boards. Do the cabinets look the same? Im pretty sure the coin door says Stern. Not sure what version was wat the Show? Thanks for the tips:)

Which version is preferred for the typically lame-ass game player (ie. me. :) ) Is one board convertable to the other via ROM swaps? I'm not going for records, so that isn't a concern for me.

If you're not great at the game, I'd assume the Konami version is better. Since the fuel is used up slower, you'd theoretically live longer (assuming you don't crash a bunch).

That said, I have no clue which version I've played.

Ok I looked the board in it is a Stern, But I have no clue on the extra boardsets I have. Do they use the same harness?

Nice score.
I obviously enjoy the game, and through no influence by me really, it is also loved by a couple of my arcade playing friends. They each own 1 cab(Ms Pac & NBA Hangtime) but have expressed interest in a dedicated Scramble if one comes up.
So one did come up right before the show for a couple hundred & we got it a few weeks ago. Here are a couple before & after pics with a little paint & such:

The cab wrapped in plastic is mine that I brought to the Seattle show. It was a Stern pcb BTW. I also have Super Cobra mounted inside with a harness that switches back & forth.

So no black box? ( FYI, name on board is not an indication either) How bout attract screen? Thanks, appreciate the help if you don't mind. I'm still working on research on this esoteric subject. I would really just like to see a pics of the attract mode and the boardset if possible. You're a good fellow, Thanks.:) Should be same harness, Yes.

Yes says Stern on the attract mode. Here are some pics. Not sure where my other board sets are, but I will dig them out this week. It was purchased at a charity auction back in 1983. They have owned it that whole time.

Love the cab!!! Love the art!!!! Love the colors!!!!! Love the game!!!! But I some what suck at it !!!!!! I really need one of you guys to come by the arcade and show me how to get through the first loop.
I would like to see how it is suppose to be played!!!!!

I think I have the konami version. It doesnt list any manufacturer at all on the attract screen, but the boardset says konami, lol. Which would be the preferred version? Konami or Stern? Do both boards use the same pinout? Will the stern board work with the konami jamma adapter?
