I just got back 200 mile round trip for a nice working Scramble. Sound did not work, but found that it was a bad speaker. I have been playing for about an hour. Nice machine plays and looks great. But its hard as hell!!!

I think its pretty cool. Just wondering what everyone else thinks of Scramble. Like it? Dont Like it?

Any tricks or tips?

I will post pics soon:)

i like it but not enough to have a dedicated machine.

i had one that i'd picked up for parts but ended up being too nice (and working, just an interlock!) so i played it for a while then traded it for a partially-working Cheyenne. i still have an extra board that i can swap into one of my Konami cabinets and a converted cab with decent side-art that someday i may make back into a Scramble.

Love it. I thought I could live with it on a 60-1 machine until I played it on one.. I was a Scramble addict back in 1981-82 and became very good at the game, so it has a special place for me. Once I started playing it on my 60-1 I realized that the timing of the bombs and missiles shooting up were off compared to a dedicated PCB, so I knew I had to get one.

I also love Super Cobra, but didn't play it as much..

I'm still looking for that dedicated cab with the spaceman in Florida!!

The 60-1 board sound on Scramble SUX!!

I have a Super Cobra board, I think it might be plug and play on the Scramble harness:cool:

Love it!! I don't have space for a dedicated one, but I have a jamma adapter already and a pcb on my Xmas list. :)

I prefer it to Super Cobra even though they are similar for aesthetic reasons. A helicopter? Really? :)

Great game. I'm not really very good at it, but still play all the time in MAME.
Just got my first Stern game (Moon War) which I think can be switched over to Scramble with board and control panel swap, no wiring hacks.

I might have some extra Scramble boards:) Now that I have a machine to test them in!!

I enjoy it. As far as tips are concerned, where are you at in the game? By the 4th loop, your fuel starts to deplete so rapidly that you must get every fuel tank more or less to survive. They never change position at least. I'm referring to the Stern boardset which I believe is much more difficult than the others?

I love Scramble.
Seems hard to find a cabinet, but I've been keeping an eye open. I'll get one some day.

This is basically my exact sentiments.

Came close to picking up a cabinet but it was the same old "not close enough, sold out from under me off craigslist before I could pick it up".

I have a number of PCBs, and a jamma converter. Just need to pick up a vertical jamma cabinet to hold me over until I can find a cabinet.

I love Scramble.

Add me to Scramble fan club. I don't own one (yet) but I play it a lot in MAME. I love the cabinet too - as I've said before, the 'Spaceman' version is my favorite side art design of any game.

I like Scramble and Super Cobra. XXI21 post a video play through a while back of him beating the game (on the version w/less fuel). Maybe you can find that and watch it for pointers.

Scramble rocks! I remember seeing them in liquor stores
and 7/11's bitd. For some reason bombing fuel pods for fuel made perfect sense back then, heh. Love the dimension it adds to the gameplay. Kinda suprised it seems like this is the only game that has used this feature. Does scramble have an ending? I always thought it looped forever...then again I'm not good enough to know.

Good game. Mine was beautiful, also had a new monitor in it. The only game I went through NAVL to obtain. I eventually traded it away for a BurgerTime. Now, I play it on my 60-in-1. The sounds aren't perfect, but still a fun game to play.

I have one and play it, Defender, and Donkey Kong the most of all my games. I have gotten to the last level just in the past few weeks but can't destroy the base. I have to figure out how to do that still. I think the game cabinet and graphics are awesome the pastel "Miami Vice" colors are so freaking 80's it's not funny and the game play rocks. This is a game that i remember playing a ton as a kid and it took many years to find one. I also have the Super Cobra board that just plugs in and the Super Cobra Header. They are pretty much the same game with Super Cobra much harder. The Caves in Super Cobra are much tighter/smaller and harder to move around with out crashing.

Enjoy your game!
