I'm restoring a Z-back I picked up to look like a neo geo. I want to find a cpo like the one pictured below, but haven't had any luck. I did find a similar one that is red and white, but no red and gold ones. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm sure that's supposed to be red and white and not red and "gold". They're usually gold because the plastic is yellowed.

Damn, that cab looks just like the one I had! Did you get it with the monitor?

It is the one you had. :p

I finally found one locally, completely empty but the price was right (free). I have to rewire it, find a monitor, power supply, etc. It's definitely a project, but I can't complain for free. I guess I'll go ahead and grab a red and white one then.

Can you take a picture of the monitor mounts? I had to drill through the metal tubing and make a frame to mount the monitor in the one I had.

I know for a fact this one isn't the one I had. Mine was waaaaaaaaaay nicer and the guy who bought it gave me the impression that he would sell his grandmother before selling his new cabinet. Ha ha! ;)

There are no monitor mounts. It's just the bare wood inside. Wouldn't that be something that came with the monitor (hopefully)? This would be my first time finding and installing a monitor, so I don't know much about it.

No. You'll have to come up with a way to mount the monitor. Does the cab have the bolt holes on the sides?

You should be fine. Mine was different. You should be able to put a 25" monitor right in there. They probably had it secured in there previously with wood screws and washers or something. I would drill bolt holes and use nuts and bolts.

Ok, good. That was my original plan, but the way you were talking scared me. :p

On an unrelated note, does anyone know where I can find red vinyl? TOG is sold out.

As long as you're asking him about parts, will you check on a monitor and coin door? :p That coin door turned out to be more busted than we thought.

I am still in the hunt for an original CPO for my dedicated 4-slot. I had bought a nice one on ebay only to find out...

There are different MVS CPOs!!! Different by slot versions and/or possibly by conversion kit or dedicated. I'm not quite sure. Bottom line is, they are not all the same so you have to be careful when you come across an original.

See how your buttons top align with the joystick? Well, on the dedicated 4-slot, the buttons sit higher than the joystick.

Arcadeoverlays.com sells a repro adhesive backed CPO for a dedicated cab, but I don't really want to go that route because it's not "original" plexi and I would have to buy lexan or something and drill holes which can be time consuming and frustrating.

As far as I know, no one on this earth makes reproduction MVS CPOs. :(

That same site has a bunch of different neo repros. I don't know if they have the one you want specifically, but you should check it out.

Edit: Is this it?

Yeah, but like I said. It's not original. The original is a thin plexi. If I got this, I'd have to custom cut some plexi or lexan and drill holes. Not really wanting to do that and for all that work, it still wouldn't be like the original. I guess I'm somewhat of a purist in that sense.

thats weird how the existing one on your z-back is red and gold.
typically they are red and white except for the 2-19 "gold" cab which has a cool gold and white cpo.

a good place to research some neo-geo stuff is http://www.hardmvs.com/index.htm
