I'm looking to see if anyone has a lead on where a RAM tester might be able to be purchased from.

I've got a need to test some of the 4116's in my Robotron. I'm planning on doing the board mod and replacing them with 4164's so ideally I'd like to be able to test both of those types as well as the 41256 (and any other 64K*1 and 256K*1 DRAM 16-pin packages).

Anyone got a lead or know of something that is affordable (not costing hundreds or thousands)?

Thanks.

I think the best affordable 4116 tester would be your Robotron board, or an Apple II computer.
I have a logic/DRAM tester that'll do 4164 and higher (chips with a single voltage supply). Probably hard to find one though, and not likely cheap either.

Fair enough. I was aiming to find something that was 'toolbox sized' that I could test the old as it came out and the new before it went in, and you are right - such a beast has proven hard to find this day and age.

Thanks for the heads up on the Apple. I'll use that as a last resort if I cannot find something dedicated... hopefully something small/portable will turn up...
