Anyone know what’s a good price to pay for a good/mint condition Mortal Kombat 2?

I've been looking on and off for awhile now for an original Mortal Kombat 2 arcade machine but with prices all over the place I'd figured I would ask some experts hear what they think. I've seen some that were rough to begin with but were "restored" (which I guess I'd be fine with as long as it's done right) for anywhere between $1800-$2200 and I've also seen some unrestored/original ones that look to be in very good to maybe even mint condition going for upwards of $3500. What do you guys think is a fair price to pay for either one of these (restored or original) if they are in super good condition? I'd like to get one that doesn't really need much but I definitely want it to look as "new" as possible. I'm not sure if I'm ready to start a full restoration or even having to apply new side art just yet….maybe on my next cabinet. Anyways, what do you think?

VAG has it 850-1400. I think that is pretty accurate. It was higher a few years ago but has dipped like a lot of stuff. They made a ton of them, be patient & you can find a good deal.

You shouldn't get too hung on the 'new' aspect of it: in my opinion, it's worth more to own an MK2 that has some scuffs and "has seen the streets" over one that's has been restored with new repro/marquee/control panel art/wood/etc. Outside of a solid working PCB, unless there's cabinet damage all I care for is a good monitor and solid controls (or replace the controls if they're worn out.)

You're only looking at the monitor and controls when you're playing it anyway, do you really care if there's some scuffs to the side (which you might not even see if it's surrounded by other cabs?) Enjoy the cab's 'personality.'

I agree wholeheartedly, and would personally pay less for a completely "restored" machine...but opinions do vary greatly here.

For sure. My MK2 was a side of the road pickup, completely empty. It took probably $600 in parts to make functional again. It's probably a 6-7/10 overall.

I wouldn't trade it for a minty one straight-up; too much sweat equity.

Thanks for all the replies guys! Appreciate it. I actually was just looking on that vintage arcade price guide site the other day. Some of these prices people are asking seem to be pretty high but hey they can ask whatever they wish, it's their machine. I'm gonna keep on looking. If anyone comes across one or even has one that they're looking to sell let me know.
