I pulled one of these out of a game. I was reading about them on phillips website. Supposedly they extend the life of a bulb 25% and they are supposed to be a green option. I would think they are comptible with fs-2.

Not much more expensive than the cheapest options.. $20 for a box of 25 from hong kong

Bill, I've never heard of these before, but for whatever reason, for this minor and generic of a part, this interests me. I definitely like the idea of it if it is all really true.

You say you pulled it out of a game. Was the light in there the same type as other marquee lights? If so, that would answer the question if it's compatible or replacement for an fs2. Or I guess try an fs2 and report results.

I have no idea why this interests me. I'm probably interested in leg levelers too.

They were in a stacker game. stacker uses 4 light fixtures with 2 ballasts and 4 starters. 2 for the 4 starters were were fs2 the other 2 were s2-p.. I did not check the bulb, but it looked pretty standard arcade fluorescent bulb.. the bulbs are philips f1518d alto.

the 2 s2p were not working. they were glowing, but the bulb did not come on. So I put in some fs2 starters and they worked.

After reading the philips page, I was thinking maybe these starters need to warm up a bit before the turn the bulb on. I will probably retry them to see if they have some sort of delay starting..

S2 Starters are used only for low wattage tubes and in countries with 240V for series starting too. Like here in AU

We can wire 2 x 18W fluoro tubes in series, using 1 x ballast and 2 x starters, and it will work.

But if you use an S2 in a 36W tube it will not

Should be OK in an arcade machine

We use S10's for any tube from 4W up to 65W

Maybe look for the S10-P, might be more useful on a wider range of tubes
