Anyone intrested doing a Randy Fromm Class? (West Coast)

I'm not sure if there's enough interest but, I figured I would ask. I happened to go to Randy's site today and noticed he did a class less than 2 weeks ago in Chicago. I thought he was out but apparently not. I'm not sure what is required other than getting 8 people together for a class but I would love to attend one. West coast .... (Hawaii, California, Seattle) I would prefer someplace warm. Anyone else interested? Anyone willing to do some research?

I would advise that you don't give this guy a dime of your money or a minute of your time. You can reference threads here, I found out a lot about this guy back in the RGVAC days - Short and sweet, the dude's a jag-off, you're better off watching his stuff on youtube, or buying his VHS to DVD dubs used off someone.

He doesn't care about people that actually LOVE video games, outside of the ones that make a profit on it. He doesn't like you as a collector, and doesn't want your money.

Wow, it's a shame, I was planning on ordering a dvd set next week, but after reading the other thread...

Yea I actually remember the RVAC imbroglio about him some years back....something about him not wanting anyone to re-sell his video tape after they've viewed them IIRC? It really was a load of crap on his part...he could have taken the high road but chose to do otherwise. I'd avoid any dealings with him, his instruction CD's or anything else that pertains to him. Waste of carbon, IMO.

After following the the FS thread by Malice I've definately lost interest in Randy Fromm. I'm a little confused on why his attitude is so negative towards us "hobbyists" but, Oh Well!. I still want his DVD/Book set but I won't buy it from him.

I tried to explore this and got shot down very quickly.

Randy prefers dealing with the professional amusement and slot machine operator than with collectors/enthusiasts. He is well known for feeling this way. See: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=194035 for more info.

How about making up some KLOV sanctioned classes? I'm sure there would be some who are willing to do these. Having them in major cities and have them at a reasonable price.... I know your trying to raise some $$$ for the Library/Museum. I think this is a win/win for you and those of us who really would like to learn more and be more engaged in Arcade Restoration.

Piss on Randy Fromm's bad attitude, that right there is enough to make me not want to attend. There are plenty of knowledgeable people on this forum. If someone would step up and make a some instructional videos that had some real quality to them I would gladly pay whatever price they wanted for them.

I don't think that he really cares what you think or would want your money after what I have read. I say just leave the man alone.

I think that there are folks on here that could do a much better job at doing the videos than he did. They were great for their day but technology has come so much farther and the videos would be so much higher quality.
